i absolutely buy this. we all know it well that IF, and only IF, everyone uses even just 50% of the capacity, it doesn't make much sense for SL anymore, but how many of them fully utilize it?
however, it'd be extremely compelling to know that i CAN use it whenever i need it without bandwidth overage issue with 100tb.
end of the day, no point pouring cold water that its impossible just by looking at the numbers. im sure SL/uk2 are in this for sure, given their past experience in launching 10tb, they should know the average utilization throughout the whole customer base.
likewise, for other dedicated hosting companies, stop showing your doubts because your doubts gonna make them stronger by considering all the doubts that you've raised start thinking of fending off this competition!0

We would not take a chance here. Our experience with 10tb shows us that the actual utilization is way way higher than on our brands incl 2tb with every server. And I am 100% sure that the average utilization on 100TB, will be many folds that on 10TB.
We know that by launching this offer we will attract a lot of companies that has made it their core skill to optimize bandwidth utilization across several networks, we have plenty of those clients already.
The consensus in this thread is that we've looked at the numbers and said: 'Let's just give them 100TB, no one will use that anyway' - that is not the case. We have a way more elaborate plan to ensure that the business model works out for all sides.
Just playing the numbers game would be way too risky.

so are you saying 100tb.com will only offer dedicated and vps.net cloud servers hosted in the USA?
Will the 10tb.com UK cloud servers remain because they have 10tb bandwidth and vps.net uk Cloud servers only 4.5tb bandwidth?
Can the vps.net UK hardware not handle 20tb bandwidth?0

All dedicated servers on 10tb will incl. 100tb of traffic, the cloud servers on 10tb will continue to incl. 10tb.
Hardware is not the issue.
I take this very serious, and I would never offer 100tb to clients if I was not 100% sure I could deliver. We currently have cloud servers (through vps.net and 10tb.com) in 4 datacenters, and none of those datacenters would have the network capacity to do a full scale upgrade.
Offering 100TB is quite a step, and with the thousands of cloud servers hosted by VPS.NET we would have to do major upgrades across all our DC's to be able to offer that to our cloud clients. Furthermore our hypervisors on VPS.NET are 'only' hooked up to 3gigabit each, and there is a good chance that this would not be enough to actually offer the throughput needed to guarantee that every client/VM would be able to fully utilize their 100tb.
More importantly...
10tb/100tb is all about high bandwidth on high quality at low pricing
vps.net and our cloud setup is all about flexibility, scalability and ease of use
Not the same target group, and we do not plan to mix it up.

Were it you at the other end? I had emailed you too or was it any of your uk2 personnel?0

the domain itself is not worth much - if it wasn't for 10tb.com - I bought 10tb.com for way less that this.
