You can check out hi-velocity (i'm positive i spelt that wrong ), they should be able todo soemthing like that (i think? maybe i'm just talkin' outta my arse again).

You can't really compare sagonet's unmetered to servermatrix. Sagonet uses quality bandwidth like level3 and some others, not straight cogent like SM.

If it's just for downloads though, you should just get the servermatrix box, it's a pretty fair price. That, or you could check out FDCServers, they should be able to hook ya' up with one of their 100Mbit (shared) unmetered ports for like $150 or something.

    http://www.fdcservers.net/100meg.html

That's some graphs of their 100Mbit users. So, telling by the graphs, you should be able to get well over the 25 Mbit you need for a bunch less

And whats wrong with SM's all cogent network to their unmetered servers? I have a 20Mbps unmetered and the only difference is about a 10ms ping time difference.

and it's 10ms. If he was running game servers, 10ms can make or break a sale no?

I got cogent boxes as well, don't get me wrong. It's all about what application he's using. Download servers don't really matter too much with pings (well, at a point they do i'm sure :p), but if he has some latency heavy stuff (M*SQL, game server, etc) it can make things suck.

Just for serving websites and download etc a cogent connection would be fine, or the Sagonet Level3/GlblX.

I agree for Game servers a 20Mbps unmetered cogent line probably wouldn't be the best, but then a again with sagonet only haveing a Level 3 and GlblX line thats not really that good either.

I live in arkansas and I ping about 20ms lower to New York than what I do to Sagonet.

If he is wanting this for a game company, then hes better off using someone with a lot of backbones i.e. Theplanet/SM, ev1servers, or some other company with a farily decent backbone connection.

If he has done his homework he is well aware that a machine serving gameservers needs no where near 20Mbps. It's most likely for downloads or streaming content I'm guessing. Think I noticed several high bandwidth offers in the dedicated server advertising forum If you haven't checked yet.

I've heard from some FDC customers that push 20Mbps, but 50Mbps for a sustained length of time would violate their TOS then they would cap you.

Here is a link to a 20Mbps offer for $250 here at WHT.

Yeah I belive your correct xenos.

As far as I know with FDC servers, if you push over 15Mbps on there 50Mbps unmetered server they will cap you at 10Mbps. Or at least something to that effect. You can burst for a short period to your 50Mbps but if you sustain that, you will be capped.

Wonder why he doesn't want a SM unmetered box? You can get your 20Mbps there and sustain it for a long long time.

    Regards,
With CPCServers you should be able to push as much bandwidth possible on the 20Mbps port. FDC makes no guarantees that you can push a constant 20Mbps.

No guarante and they dont mention how many people on are the port.

Could be 100, 1000 or even just a couple.

I dont like that deal. You dont even get a minium 5mbit or so.

There have been plenty of quality providers suggested. If not, there is the search function and the web hosting offers section.
I wish all my traffic went through AS174.
