Specific services monitoring tool?
Hi,
I know that there's another thread opened just below mine which is about "server monitoring tools". I had a more specific question so thought I should open a new one instead of messing up the old one.
Is there any script/app/tool that we can use to monitor services like mail, ftp, IMAP, POP, http and receive alerts when any of these are down?
I think nagios can do it, but it seems way too complicated for a starter like me.

Monitor.us can do what you're looking for. When I used the service I did find some monitors to be unreliable.

Try http://www.uptimerobot.com you can set TCP ports for it to monitor and it'll send alerts to an email address you specify. Best way I've found to monitor all my nodes that takes less no more that 5 minutes to setup.
