Hostdoggy problems

Hi there,

First post, so please be gentle with me!

I have a re-seller account with hostdoggy (hostdoggy.net). For the last four or five months, things have been going magnificently. (Prompt support responses, great uptime etc).

Last week, all of a sudden my domain, plus those of all of my clients disappeared. (Inaccessible). I emailed support, and recieved a response in about five minutes stating that they had been hacked, and that everything was being done to bring everything back on-line. During this time hostdoggy's site was also unavailable, with a placeholder page, imploring customers to "stick with us" replacing the index page

Gradually all my domains came back on-line later that day, and everything was good with the world again.

This morning all my domains are unavailable again, with the even more frightening prospect of the hostdoggy home page also now completely unavailable. (No placeholder - Nada!)

I have tried emailing support, but my emails are bouncing.

Is there anybody from hostdoggy who frequents these forums who can explain what's going on? Or another customer who has some idea?

Yours in desperation

Stu

Hi Stu,

Things went from bad to worse. The hacker problem was bad enough then the DC took and changed the wrong drives. We are working hard to get you back up, unfortunately we are at the mercy of the DC. Thing don't always move as quick as we want from there, they have a pretty heavy workload. I appreciate you posting here, I did a search and discovered your post while waiting myself. I did not post a page when we went down because it should have been right back up, never thought it would take this long. Should be back up shortly though.

Thanks

Sounds like they have it under control. Good job. Seems like all the crackers and DDOS idiots have been hard at work recently. I know we have been hit a couple of times within the last month.

Layerdtech removed the drive with all the site backups, then they thought they put another drive in they thought had the backups but it was empty. I got tired of waiting so I uploaded the backups from local drive to the empty drive which took all day. They went to remove the extra drive and once again removed the wrong drive. Now I have been waiting for hours for them to change it back again. What should have taken hours has now turned in to days.

(update) they just replied, they apoligized for the delay and will be installing the backup drive, keep your fingers crossed that it's the correct drive!

Thanks

Don7t,

Hey, I wondered what happened over there. You just disappeared man. We were talking about what was happening and *poof* you disappeared. I thought maybe you gave up and split or something... Everything was working great once you switched us over to the #1 partition and then *zumppp* it died.

Is this problem affecting the Hostdoggy domain registrar as well?

I am still with you bud. As soon as things get back up and running I'll be back. I had to go get some interim hosting until things get settled.

Drop me a line when you know more, you know my cell number.

Are you there Donnie?

Sorry, but this is the only way I can contact you............

After a week of downtime, should I be moving my accounts elsewhere?

Their site still has a temporary page. So does that mean, that the host is down since last month, if yes then it is frightening?

I'm not sure. I am a reseller and I keep my company accounts with one host and all my client accounts with a different host...just in case something like this happens!

So,when the servers went down, i just moved my corporate accounts over so i wouldn't lose time/business & I just haven't had time to move them back.

In the past, I have had great support from hostdoggy, so it is worth it for me to stick with him if he is back up. He's very honest and generally is available by phone or responds to tickets within the hour.

It's a tough thing to recover from though..so..

we'll see..
