    Which day?

I am thinking about signing on to show up for 1 day of the 3. Which would be the best day to choose?

    What are you looking for?

The day you come to the conerence will depend on what you are looking for. The Exhibit Hall is Open day 2 & 3.

    Go to http://www.hostingcon.com/2007/attend/conference.php

Then click the "Conference Session Grid" link. That's an easy way to see what's going on, and when, for all 3 days.

There is no 'best day' to go to HostingCon. There is only the day that's best for you.

It's worth going to all 3 to be honest.

Wednesday, of course, because that's when I will be speaking.

I think you wont get the full benefit of the conference by only going ONE day... you have to attend it all IMO to get anything good out of it

Will probably regret it, but ended up going for full passes. Seems to be the 'done' thing by most people this year

I always get our group full passes, but we tend to only attend maybe a 1/3rd of the conference - a few useful sessions and the exhibit hall... half the sessions are crap you should already know and time is better spent elsewhere

Usually too hungover to attend the morning ones Mr Wallis?

If you were a guest at the NYC in midtown NYC, it gave you late night access to the bar - and late was about 5am as I recall. Could be dangerous.

if you will drink the most popular brands of chemically stewed amber splodge, you'll get a hangover in any country. You should know better being an Aussie - but I've had many hangovers in Aus while drinking VB and swan I think it was... but I must admit, the American big 3 really do take the biscuit when it comes to chemical conconctions of the lowest order.

For ANY country, the best beers (imho) tend to be those small local breweries who are keeping it real and producing naturally brewed and un-pasteurised brews - unfortunately, some of them don't travel too well!

Any of you planning on drinking some of your favorite tipples from back home because you see a familiar name should also be wary of the licensed versions that are brewed in the USA - they are NEVER as nice as the originals. Stella Artois is one that comes to mind.. it can be found as an import in bottles in some places, but if you find it on tap, it's licensed and nowhere near as nice!

On a similar note - Guinness here seems to be a tad better than anything other than the blue tapped guinnes in the UK, which everyone knows is nothing compared to the St James's Gate stuff out of Ireland.

That said - sticking to the hard stuff and you'll find some very nice bourbons that you have an almost impossible task of finding back home... Basil Hayden comes to mind... you're as likely to find that back in Aus as we are at finding Bundaberg Rum over here!

    Matt,

I hope you've still got your very British accent this year. I had a few friends move to Oz and they all try and speak with an Ozzie accent.... why?!?
