WHT:what are its good points and bad points?
Why remove all my posts? from the topic? here is my sig so now I should not get warned with ten points now right. bY the way I was not promoting my site.
Ok things I like about WHT:
Allot of good content:
Got rid of the free hosting requests
Allot of experienced people willing to help others.
Things I do not like:
The 15 minute thing about editing posts. make a mistake and dont get it in time and your stuck.
Allot of people selling stuff that is copyrighted by others on the advsertising forums. For example web templates that are bought from Template monster.
And now I check to see if my signature works

1. Putting a link to your site in your post is promoting your site. Seems pretty simple to me.
2. Is the Web Hosting Forum really the appropriate forum for this thread?

And if you make a mistake with your post and catch it after 15 minutes, use the "Report this post" link or email moderators@webhostingtalk.com with the correct/fixed post and provide a link to the thread that needs to be fixed, and you SHOULD be taken care of.

And, before everyone thinks vito has lost his mind . . . . again; thread has been moved to the "WHT: Announcements, Suggestions, Feedback & Questions" Forum.

Hi sandee29.
Sorry, I just calls 'em as I sees 'em. Friendly advice, is all...

I hate to beat a dead horse again, but I for one dislike the new point system. It is way to subjective IMO.

the point system is like that on a drivers license. Mess up and rack em up. I'm sure some other mboards do something simular. Some will not give a warning and lock a member out immediately.

It's just my two cents on a bad point of WHT.Hendrick Networks - Technical, Security and Connectivity Solutions Built on T.R.U.S.T

Ahh, but the application of points are also subjective on drivers licenses.
The police officer has to make the decision whether to give you a ticket or not. While chances are you were violating the law, it is up to him to determine the next step of resolution, be that a warning, a ticket, or a quick club to the knee if you get mouthy.
Even if he decides to give you a ticket, he can still be subjective by giving you a ticket for a lower point value violation or overlooking multiple violations and only giving you one ticket.

ats-tech: Could you explain how it is subjective?
I for one think it is a good system. For one thing when someone breaks a rule multiple times, or breaks multiple rules, they would have been banned, now under the new system, they are not always banned, they simply have a increased point value.Dan Sheppard ~ Freelance whatever

Yes, I don't like that much either, but I respect and understand why the mods changed it down from 1 hour to 15 minutes.

If you see such examples, then email moderators@webhostingtalk.com and they'll look into it. They are quite snappy with such matters.• WLVPN.com • NetProtect owned White Label VPN provider •

Matt is correct the the subjective part. One of the members of our Ham radio club is an officer of the law and he mentioned when he sees a violation, it is his decision on how to handle it. Sometimes if he saw the same vehicle do the bad thing a few times, he will come down harder on the motorist.
The threads about the point system can go on and on, but WHT has it in place for a reason. Rather if it's successful if up to the admin's to decide, but many members favour it since it helps keep WHT a positive place to visit.]
As for comments about the sig rules, if anyone ever visited the forums on Delphiforums.com, some of the member have sigs 2 kilometres long. I used to post on a few forums over there, but the sigs drove me away, and the option to turn them off requires a paid membership. At least here it's free.
Many posts (on Delphiforums) you'll only see 3 words and a sig with 27 graphics that take 2 years to load. Most of the graphics are links to the various forums on Delphi they're assistant moderator on.73's, Kim

I'm aware that I can contact moderators with questions. My problem with it is if a specific moderator has a bug up you know where, it's not going to matter (or doesn't appear to) and the points will not be reduced or taken away.
WHT is a great place, Mods-keep up the good work. I've just found that I need to tread lighter than I used to. BTW yes, I've read the rules and I understand them. I've been around long enough for that.Hendrick Networks - Technical, Security and Connectivity Solutions Built on T.R.U.S.T

Well the reason I put my link to my site was that my sig I could not get working except for a few lines without the URL. So I just added it manually close to my sig. But I was warned for trying to advertise my site. But I was not doing this at all. It just lloked funny without the url and just information. But no problem my sig is fixed so I never need to add my url manually again. Never wanted to in the first place.
