Practical Guide to Linux Commands, Editors, and Shell Programming
I have the first edition. It is pretty damn good book. Second edition just came out. I would recommend it!SysAdmin.xyz
Having severs with customer data on it without proper monitoring is like having one night stand without using protections - eventually, there will be an 'oh s**t!' moment.

Learn Perl, IMO best language a sysadmin can know, will help you a lot to automate tasks along with bash scripting.
However all the books in the world can't make you an expert if you have no real life experience in a production environment, major part in being a good sysadmin is able to improvise.█ VPSnoc.com offers high quality Xen® OpenVZ & Windows® Virtual Private Servers at affordable prices.
