Clearly overselling with that, so I would be wary

That's turning into pretty much the standard offering from budget hosts. The numbers offered don't really mean much anymore since 99% of people won't even use 1gb let alone 100.

They would never let you use anywhere near as much storage space or bandwidth as they have listed. I'm sure they have something in their TOS. Anyone that wants anything reliable would see right through those packages.

It's $10 a month for that plan. What the hell, sign up. Use half of what they offer, and see if they don't kick you off. Then let us know.

    Read http://ultracheaphosts.com

It will give you a clear understanding of why you should stay away from overselling web hosting companies that cheat their customers.

Still, that provider was half right. Keeping a backup is ultimately, your responsibility. You'll have an impossible time finding a host that guarantees the availability your data.

well although they promis that much bandwidth you can't really have that much. I tried it out and used about 40gb bandwidth a day to see what happens, obviously they suspended my account within the second day saying it was causing too much stress on the server, 40x30= 1200gb bandwidth so if I get my account canceled for only 1200gb bandwidth 1500gb bandwidth is almost impossible to get.

Wow. I am considering getting that, then I could set up storage dumps with public ISOs of linux distributions on them.

I'm sure their TOS lists that most of the files must be HTML or PHP/ASP files....and specifically states that it can't be a storage repository!

    You must be psychic!

    6. Disk Usage. 90% or more of your content on your website must be linked from an HTML or similarly coded web page where all content is freely available to the public. Your website consists of web pages of a standard design, essentially HTML based text and graphics. Downloadable files, media, streaming content or any file which consumes more than 500kb of space must not exceed 10% of your total used disk quota. Since Surfspeedy provides web hosting for the purpose of serving a website at no time shall the account be used for archival, backups or download services.

Most customers use at most 10MB these days, as their corporate page is a mega or so, and for all their e-mail accounts they use an e-mail client that pulls e-mails all the time... Using less then 100MB bandwidth a month is usual as well...

Yes, it's pretty much impossible to fill up 100 GB or use 1.5TB with only HTML.

If you have a site using 1.5TB/mo, you got to be some one who knows what you are doing and would never go with such plans, so in the end surfspeedy's Business Plan may work as they are probably targeting the newbie's who does not have a clear understand about overselling.

In the end, I guess this is a WIN WIN SITUATION for surfspeedy As such higly oversold plans will keep the EXPERIENCED-USERS-OUT & NEWBIE'S-IN as these newbie's will hardly use much space or bandwidth.

Well said. Yet again marketting, marketting, and what is that oh right more marketting. Your typical run of the mill website without download services will more often than not (practically always) use less than 500MB space, and that is inclusive of forums/blog software (mysql db usage would probably end up being alot of that usage).

As SkyNetHosting has stated, anyone with a site that is going to use 1500GB of transfer would know they undoubtedly need their own server (that or they did not read the TOS of surfspeedy and will probably end up in quite the pickle).

I lost my account because I used it to store backup files. So I moved to Godaddy.com who offer the same plan, but for less money, and they accept backup files and big files on their hosting plans.

And I could not host my photoalbum because most of my image files are over 500kb.
The totalt size of my photoalbum are around 3 GB.

I got this reply from them:

    Hi Kenneth,

As per our TOS, any file having more than 500kb of size should not exceed 10% of total USED disk quota. In the sense, if you're going to use 27GB of disk space for plain text files (such as HTML code), so you'll be able to use 3GB of disk space for grphics files.

Our TOS : 6.

Are there any other questions we can answer for you?

    Best Regards,
