    Dns

    Morning http://forums.webhostautomation.com/...icon_smile.gif

Hope this is in the right place.

I currently have ns1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com pointing at my server. I am now about to start the process of moving my server to a new server and trying to get my head around it all.

The company I am moving to offers a dns service which I would like to take advantage of as a secondary dns server for my domains. I would still like to use ns1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com :/

I'm obviously going to have to change the IP addresses of ns1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com :/ What is the best thing to do so my domains dont have any down time or minimal downtime while I do this?

I hope this makes sense. It's to early to be thinking bout this but I have been up half the night thinking about it http://forums.webhostautomation.com/...s/icon_sad.gif

    Thanks in advance,

    Matt

    things you may consider:

    1. Move the sites over and update the DNS record on your current DNS service to resolve it to the new server IP respectively.

    2. Make sure the DNS on your new provider has both the primary and secondary added to the primary and secondary DNS server

    3. Update your ns1 and ns2 IP at your domain registrar to point to the new IPs
