    haha

THeres not one reason why apache would fail, you would need to give us more info, the first place to start looking is in your log files usually located in /var/log

Get used to using them they will be your best friend.

What operating system and version of Apache are you running? Is it on a cobalt? Also, what is the error message you get when trying to start it?

Try to execute "httpd -t -f /path/to/httpd.conf" to check to see if your httpd.conf file has errors in it.

Or please be more specific, and I'm sure we can help you figure out what is going on.

    Charles,

    LOL, beat me to it.

Yes, make sure to check your logs, especially /var/log/httpd/error_log (directory structure will vary on machines). If I am correct, this file will also contain the errors messages when apache starts up.

Everything is fine as far as Apache goes now. I have one other problem that might need to be looked at though. After going through the files I found out that the last person to have access to root was the company that I get my dedicated server from. When I asked them why they where in my box the time the server went down and they said that they were not. I have proof that they were though. When I talked to them through humanclick it saves the ip/host that they use and it was the same as the one that was in the root. Also when the guy at rackspace fix the Apache error he said that someone changed a character in Apache and it screwed it all up. What should I do?

Someone was most definitely in your box if it shows up in your logs. Logs don't lie. It's most likely just a misunderstanding. Talk to them again and ask for clarification and tell them about the logs.
