Daniel, is that bi-directional cable modem service? In my area, at least up until a year ago, only downstream cable was available which required a phone line for 56k uploads. Plus, it cost $70/month. For the same price I got 768k DSL. Go figure.

    Cool

    I can complain, I'm tired of 56k.

  16. #16
Well, 1mbps is over the limit allowed, way over the limit. The limit is 56k. If you break the speed limit 3 times, you loose 20posts. And 5 posts after every time after the 3rd time. So keep an eye on the speedometer.

Trust me.... I know how you feel, for 10 years on the net I was on dialup. Each time they went up a bit.... 2400 to 9600 then 14.4 (boy was that 14.4 fast) then 28.8 and 33.6 (wow smoking) and then *gasp* 56k, wow we were flying.... for about a year. heh.

Whinge whinge whinge, moan moan moan

My cable doesn't really fly, but it's still good enough for me (anything's better than 56K dialup..)
My 2 Cents.... (or is that 2.2 cents inc. GST...?)

I've still got an ancient Archer 120bps TeleCommunicator modem -- the height of high-speed technology in its day... lol.

The thing is the size of a large shoebox. And -- it still works.
