.tar.gz for windows
Hello,
I need to compress alot of files to .tar.gz in windows... Have searched the subject, but the only software (like winzip or 7-zip) I've found could only DEcompress.
Does anyone know how that's possible to do?

tar.exe - http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/tar.htm
gzip.exe - http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/gzip.htm
tar -cvf archive.tar foldername
gzip -9 archive.tar
Make sure to add their installation paths to the path variable in your windows enviroment too.0

If you'd wanted a standalone program for it, PowerArchiver is my favorite. $20.
Does way more than just tar.gz...0

Try WinAce, it does tar.gz as well as many others.

Thank you both, bear and trau! However, it looks like I'll stay with ub3r's suggestion. It looks most familiar for me, used to Linux.
Thank you again.Respect My Authoritah! - Eric Cartman (a friend of mine).0

Also, You might want to consider using bzip2 over gzip. Much more compression power.
