Orlando, as I was looking over your question I found this old thread here in WHT, hopefully it will help you understand the benefits of the Conroe 3060 Series.
Good luck with your search.

Edit because of the post below. Do you have any specific specs about the Xeon 2.4?

In any kinds of that Dual Xeon 2.4GHz, Xeon 3040 is more faster.
If you want more details, we would need more info about that Dual Xeon 2.4GHz.Tommy Tran - tommy @ vinax.net ::: VINAX, LLC ::: http://vinax.net ::: Since 2004

I have two benchmarks, but keep in mind these were on FreeBSD and will differ on a Linux server:
FINAL SCORE - 256.3 (Xeon 3.2)
FINAL SCORE - 398.1 (Xeon 3050)
The Xeon 3.2 was an older model with HT... so it's safe to assume an Xeon 3040 would be significantly faster than that Xeon 2.4 (assuming it's the older model). Also, both of these servers had the same SATA2 hard drives and amount of RAM.

If it is indeed an older Xeon, you would compare a Core2Duo with an Intel Pentium D.
Basically meaning: Since they say "Xeon 2.4" I expect it to be 1 of the older ones, giving it no chance vs the 3040.

Just because I have both of these, I thought I would give my opinion.
Running the unixbench, on my Dual Xeon 2.4ghz (Nocona Series) I received about a 160 score running 1 SCSI 10K drive. With my Xeon 3060 running 3 SATA in a RAID5 (64-bit) I received a 410 score.
Hope that gives you an idea of how powerful the Xeon 3060 is.
