Python, most flexible language i've used to date, i've got experience in most of them, and javascript/php/c/java are all quite similar, python is a bit refreshing plus very flexible, from desktop to web . Ruby is pretty cool too.

JavaScript isn't server side. It can call server side and display the code, but it itself cannot interact with the server as it is client (browser) based.

Php gets my thumbs up swell

    Wrong. Node.js.
    [GB ≠ GiB] [MB ≠ MiB] [kB ≠ kiB] [1000 ≠ 1024] [Giga ≠ gram] [Mega ≠ milli] [Kelvin ≠ kilo] [Byte ≠ bit]
There is no millibit. There is no gram-bit. There is no Kelvin-Byte.

    Well,

for Systemdevelopment/Poking away at the Posix-API:

    C, off course.

    Webapps: PHP
    Hacking scripts together: PERL, Bash

and for nice desktopapplications I would use Jave, because i don't speak C# or J#.
