    Frequently Asked Questions:

    What is rsync?
Rsync greatly improves efficiency when compared to traditional remote backup methods. By synchronizing only those files that have changed since the last backup, using rsync results in large bandwidth savings. When combined with on-the-fly compression, performing daily rsync backup can result in less data transfer than it would take to perform two backups using the .tar.gz method in a given month.

    What is rdiff-backup?
rdiff-backup backs up one directory to another, possibly over a network. The target directory ends up a copy of the source directory, but extra reverse diffs are stored in a special subdirectory of that target directory, so you can still recover files lost some time ago. The idea is to combine the best features of a mirror and an incremental backup. rdiff-backup also preserves subdirectories, hard links, dev files, permissions, uid/gid ownership, modification times, extended attributes, acls, and resource forks. Also, rdiff-backup can operate in a bandwidth efficient manner over a pipe, like rsync. Thus you can use rdiff-backup and ssh to securely back a hard drive up to a remote location, and only the differences will be transmitted. Finally, rdiff-backup is easy to use and settings have sensical defaults.

I have Windows as the operating system, is there an alternative to FTP?
As a matter of fact, Windows can indeed run rsync. Visit the link below for more information:

What does the control panel do?
All the control panel does is display the usage of your account.

I purchased this a while ago....

Although they do not have guaranteed SLAs. But they do provide quick support nevertheless.

Their servers provided by BQinternet (?) are very reliable. The old server that I was on has 150 days of uptime! I got moved over to control2 a week ago due to out of disk space errors once or twice, and smooth sailing after the move.

I urge you to try out their services, they are on par with the provider they are reselling from, or even better. Darin has been great and same goes to Otto.

9/10 due to 1-2 out of disk space errors.

    Have fun guys!

Now I believe PayPal actually lets you use just a credit card without signing up for an account, correct me if I'm wrong.
