    Kayako Vs Zopim

    hi guys,
I'm on the edge of purchasing either one of the two.

From what I know so far, Kayako is has a more professional appeal & Zopim is great for chatting from mobile handsets like bb, iphone, ipad etc.

My website(not the ones in my sig) would require a very corporate brand image but at the same time i'll need mobile accessibility(should be able to chat) too. Which one among them would you choose?

LivePerson is too expensive for me right now, though I do not mind paying something around $500 for a one time single machine license but its quality should be top notch like Kayako.

If you feel like suggesting something else, please do. But I need the best. Just short of LivePerson coz I feel it is out of reach for me right now based on my business model. Maybe once I have a better cashflow, I might invest in it.

So Kayako Or Zopim Or Something else?

Kayako's live chat is garbage. It's laggy, drops chats, and has other silly issues such as not being able to backspace your name or email address on the new live chat window in FireFox.

Some of this *may* have been resolved but I wouldn't hold my breath. In November of 2010 I reported the issue of not being able to backspace the entries and it was verified by them. In February of 2011 the issue was still not resolved.

As far as zopim, I've never used them so I can't comment.

    Thanks Mike for the input.

From what I have heard about it so far, it is very professional and the only one that can come close to the quality of LivePerson

Any other software you can recommend?

We personally use ProvideSupport which has worked flawlessly and is comparable to LivePerson (but cheaper).

We used to use ProvideSupport for several years but just recently switched to Zopim. The main reason for this was the fact that it seemed like PS was getting stale. They did not have things like auto proactive chat, which is a must in my opinion. I think Zopim is professional enough. You can modify it however you want and not use the default smiley faces. It's also reasonable and quick. Works great on mobile as well.

Yep, I can see that happen. They have an extremely slow development cycle. I'm guessing much of their developer's time is spent programming customized versions of their helpdesk for large companies.

We are using Live Help Messenger. Has iPhone and Android app and works brilliantly. Less than $200~. Don't knock it off since its cheap. Its dead on professional and an amazing product by StarDevelop. If you have WHMCS, they have a plugin that integrates both together that shows your customer details on the chat session. Very handy to make new quotes or provide simple help to customers.

I have been trying to get the company I have been doing work for to switch to that program since the in house one combined with another live chat program isn't working out too well.

The only thing that I don't like about it is the fact that you have to pay $250 for copyright removal when the software only costs $150. While not an issue for a large company, having the ability to brand your software is great, but at $250 it doesn't seem worth it to a smaller company with only a few servers.

This might work cheaper if you already have a WHMCS license:

    Take a look at PHPLive!

Their old version works fine, they just came out with a new version not sure how it is. But it shouldn't be too bad.

The whmcs link has much better pricing... We can afford it easily but thinking about the needs and budget of a smaller company that doesn't know about that offer, monthly pricing directly on the site may be a better choice for some.

*********.com is another option which integrates with Skype and Google Talk. But it is hosted. They have live-chat, phone-chat (browser phone and local access numbers in 40 countries) and social toolbar all in one. I conducted beta two months back here at WHT. Gave away licenses to lot of hosting companies.

Disclaimer - they are one of my clients. I posted a thread for getting beta customers for their WHMCS integration.

Zopim is a very good solution for live chat and even their free version rocks. Another good name is *********.com that I have used but love zopim.

Thanks everyone for your input. After doing some more research, it is between Kayako & Provide Support now.

I have to fully agree here. I've been following Kayako for years, and it's the same old same old problems with them. Their live chat is, in fact, garbage.

Kayako and development don't even belong in the same sentence. Years after promising something, they deliver something that barely functions as what they promise, and, uggh, just uggh.

Stardevelop is good, but their product is flaky to say the least. Half the time notifications will work, the other half they don't. They blame the OS (or conflicting apps), but just don't offer any real solutions, just blaming the OS. Their iPhone app is a nightmare to actually keep up, unfortunately.

I started using Zopim and while I've been having repeated validation issues (constantly having to re-authorize things), it's worked flawlessly so far. Not sure I'm a fan of the forcing you to sub to higher level plans just to be able to block someone though.

    Provide Support is solid solution.
We are using them for over 2 years now and never had some serious issues with them.
Why we decided to use them is mostly because they do support Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Most of live chat scripts doesn't support that (unless they are browser based).

Zopim looks nice I must admit, but for now we will stay with Provide Support.
Kayako is total garbage as many of you said here. It's great Ticket System, but Live Chat is 0.
