Any cloud-type solutions less expensive than Rackspace Cloud?

I have two WordPress sites -- one business, one personal -- that are generally low-traffic but occasionally will have traffic spikes. I like the concept of Rackspace Cloud, but at $100/mo., it's way beyond what I need on a day-to-day basis. Can anyone recommend a cloud-type solution (i.e., something that scales up automatically if an article generates a traffic spike) that's more affordable than Rackspace Cloud?

Rackspace's Cloud *Servers* looks appealing from a cost/features standpoint, but I'm a newbie when it comes to managing servers or server instances and would prefer to have support a phone call (or online visit) away.

Thanks very much for all feedback.

Realistically just going with a high-end shared hosting plan in the $15~25/month range should give you the flexibility you need.

I wasn't aware that the RackSpace cloud "automatically" scaled up but I do know that it *can* be scaled up but then again so can most shared hosting plans.

Cloud "sites" scales your application (load balancing, clustering, etc) whereas cloud servers is like a fancy VPS.

Stay away from Rackspace. Their support is one of the worst I've seen. Slow and often unhelpful. Better off going with Data393/Latisys (not sure if they offer cloud hosting though).
