SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (Dec. 23, 2011) - Go Daddy is no longer supporting SOPA, the "Stop Online Piracy Act" currently working its way through U.S. Congress.
"Fighting online piracy is of the utmost importance, which is why Go Daddy has been working to help craft revisions to this legislation - but we can clearly do better," Warren Adelman, Go Daddy's newly appointed CEO, said. "It's very important that all Internet stakeholders work together on this. Getting it right is worth the wait. Go Daddy will support it when and if the Internet community supports it."
Go Daddy and its General Counsel, Christine Jones, have worked with federal lawmakers for months to help craft revisions to legislation first introduced some three years ago. Jones has fought to express the concerns of the entire Internet community and to improve the bill by proposing changes to key defined terms, limitations on DNS filtering to ensure the integrity of the Internet, more significant consequences for frivolous claims, and specific provisions to protect free speech.
"As a company that is all about innovation, with our own technology and in support of our customers, Go Daddy is rooted in the idea of First Amendment Rights and believes 100 percent that the Internet is a key engine for our new economy," said Adelman.
In changing its position, Go Daddy remains steadfast in its promise to support security and stability of the Internet. In an effort to eliminate any confusion about its reversal on SOPA though, Jones has removed blog postings that had outlined areas of the bill Go Daddy did support.
"Go Daddy has always fought to preserve the intellectual property rights of third parties, and will continue to do so in the future," Jones said.

They may have "stopped" supporting Sopa, but they started supporting PIPA.
Basically, they're one and the same. The only difference is one's from the House, one's from the Senate. Other than that, virtually one and the same.Tom Whiting, WHMCS Guru extraordinaire

It seem like they just 'switched' to another form of support from House to Senate. Does it even makes a difference? For publicity, perhaps yeah since quitting SOPA sounds like they hear the voice of the people, but at the back supporting PIPA which technically makes this publicity stunt worth nothing at all!

I've most of mine transferring now to name.com, will be moving the last out on the 29th. I've been waiting for a good reason to jump ship from Godaddy, not a fan of their control panel and prices have went up considerably.

Just finished moving the last of my domains over to Enom. Just an FYI, you can grab an Enom account through clientexec which gets you the common com/net/org domains at $8.95/year: https://www.clientexec.com/members/i...lugin=enomform
SSL certs are also dirt cheap.
Merry Christmas everyone!

Or you can go with resell.biz which gives you those same domains and many more @ $8.50 and less. No, really, stay AWAY from big companies like enom. If they're charging the same price for com/net/org, they're ripping you off and big time.

The resell.biz pricing is nice but with the case of domain names I do prefer a "bigger" company where I have a bit more faith that they won't disappear and cause me all kinds of headaches trying to get my domains back.
I hear a lot of people mention namecheap but their pricing isn't nearly as good as Enom with a good account. You can get cheaper Enom pricing but a lot of time it requires a fairly substantial deposit to get one of those accounts.

Ever heard of uk2/us2? These are both huge, huge companies. Guess who owns resell? The company that owns both of these.
Add to the pricing 'benefits', the fact that they don't try to charge you for, say, whoisguard, which is a VERY good thing.
Resell isn't about hooking the customer in on stupid gimicks and making you pay more for them at renewal. They treat the customer right. They reward money spent with a tiered system. Tier 1 is for the casual buyer, tier 2 is for those who've purchased more than $500 (or deposited $500 in their account), and the price drops considerably.
I know, you're thinking I'm a shill for these guys, but realistically, I'm not. I'm just someone who's done a TON of research and gets tired of these scams by big company A, B and C, trying to pass things off as the same price when they're clearly not.Tom Whiting, WHMCS Guru extraordinaire

Not true. In the past Register.com and GoDaddy were the most affordable options to buy domains and GoDaddy was one of the very first registrars to include plenty of free services nowadays are taken for granted but in the past were very expensive (e.g. domain dns hosting, e-mail forwarding, domain parking page).

Actually, I hadn't heard of resell.biz until you mentioned them and the only reason I thought they were small was because of your comment:
Sounds like a company worth looking into. I'm very happy with Enom myself and plan to stay put for the time being. Either way you folks go, there's a better solution out there than GoDaddy!
Cheers,
Jerret

I like Namecheap but I hope they will start offering the Privacy Whois free in the future. I mean not temporary like what they advertise now. Also, I hope that other domain registrar will offer Domain Consolidation similar to GD, I find this very useful.
█ Ask for Server IP & Nameservers IP to check if your reseller provider truly provides 100% white-label.
