If you are highly experienced with Squidproxy, I am interested in working with you. I am looking for a price quote. For purposes of brevity, this is the email I sent to a few companies this morning -- hopefully I have better luck here:
I was hoping you would be able to deliver me a price quote on your services. I have relatively basic needs.
I own a small company that rents proxy servers to clients on a per IP basis (kind of like Hidemyass.com but much more granular and tech-oriented). So a client might pay for 20 proxy servers per month, and he will get access to 20 of our IPs. He is also provided with a username and password for each IP. We use HTTP basic authentication with Squidproxy. When a new subscription is created, our software hits an API on each Squidproxy server, and that API modifies the Squid configuration files to add a new user. When the subscription is removed, our software hits the same API and the API removes the user from those configuration files.
Currently, we have 6 dedicated Squidproxy servers running Debian 6 and Squidproxy 2 (I forget the exact version, but it's not Squidproxy 3). Our system is working great so far. However, there are occasional uptime issues and optimization issues.
What I would like to purchase from you:
- Initial consultation - Are we doing things intelligently? Are there areas where we can make huge optimization gains?
- Initial modifications - It would be awesome if you could go through our config files (both the linux server config files and squid config files) and optimize our servers for squid.
- Ongoing support and maintenance - This is where I have the most flexibility. I don't have a strict requirement here. But I would probably want some ongoing support and maintenance - a few hours per week maximum (that's on the very high side). Hopefully the servers will work fine and there will be no issues!
So if this is something you could offer us, I'm interested in building a lasting business relationship. I would really appreciate hearing back from you about a price quote or any clarifying questions you have.
