VPS, Xen / KVM, custom OS / iso boot

    Hey,

Are there any other Xen / KVM providers like Blueroomhosting, that offers a possibility to boot an ISO image and install operating system yourself or to provide them with an ISO image so they complete custom OS installation.

    Thanks.

I'm not going to speak for them on whether or not this is something they can do, but you may want to contact 6sync. They have been more then willing to work with me with my special needs and they definitely have gone above and beyond. Very very impressed so worth a shot.

So I think you will find alot more people doing this in the next few months

I can confirm SolusVM supports doing this and most providers using SolusVM+Xen should be able to give you the functionality if you ask

Yes, but this requires HVM, while most hosts do PV only.
Thats why i'm asking for any experiences with providers that do Xen HVM or KVM and are willing to boot provided ISO.

It's probably easiest to contact a few potential providers and ask them. Is there anything special about the ISO/OS that requires HVM?
Exceptional VPS Hosting. With love, 6sync.

nothing, except, that you need to use HVM instead of PV to install from ISO on Xen.
and besides the fact that it has custom kernel, which aint gonna work on PV.

yep that's now possible with solusVM's Xen HVM, we have several clients already on it and it works great... even Windows can be installed.

Our HVM-ISO support is nice and stable. The development servers have had several windows 2008, trixbox and BSD guests running for over 2 months now.
