keywords in the file and page name does help
basic SEO
- name the page the keyword your opt'in for(title tag)
- name the file the keyword your opt'in for (web-hosting.php)
- dashs (-) are better than underscore (web_hosting),althought nobody can really tell you why,But it is as read on several seo websites, and shows in search results.
/php-web-hosting-for-newbies.php is much better than /phpwebhostingfornewbies.php
These all help ,but its backlinks and content will get you to the top.Last edited by grace5; 04-16-2008 at 09:16 AM. Reason: added

You should try to use less hyphens in your url. Search engines give trust rank to authentic urls.

I've always used underscores, not only does Google parse them better, they look so much more professional in URL's compared with underscores.

AS stated above it is better to use - rather than _. Google does a much better job with dashes.

Google always prefers dashes over underscores. Been this way for quite a few years now. Google does not parse them better.
But it really doesn't matter. Focusing on a domain name for SEO is virtually irrelevant. Focus on actual SEO tactics such as keyword placement, and good Keyword Titles.█ www.JGRoboMarketing.com / "Automate. Grow. Repeat"
