    Best Cell Phone Service?

What is the best service & lowest price cell phone service providers?

Need someone who offers 4g, data, text, web, talk.

Looking into VirginMobile, Tmobile & Sprint at the moment.

    Thanks!

Sprint may have the cheapest (and only) 'unlimited' plan, but they have the worst service imaginable. If you rely on text messages, don't bother. Last time I was with them (admittedly a few years ago), they 'lost' messages for days on end

I've had opposite experience than the poster above, and the sprint 4g is really working nicely in my markets as well.
Virgin Mobile rides on Sprint, however sprint direct also will roam on Verizon(and exalltel verizon) if you are in a place they don't have native.

It really does depend on the market. Around here, it's well known that if you sign up for sprint, you'll spend forever and a day on their 'unlimited' network, trying to get the smallest stuff done. I can't verify that they have or haven't fixed the text problem, but I've talked to quite a few techs for them that warned them of the congestion problem well in advance.

Verizon is alright, though they're too ban heavy on their email to sms gateway.

AT&T is good, so far that I've seen.

To Sprint's credit, I think they were the only ones (when I used them) that actually DIDN'T charge for calls from the U.S. to Canada. That may have changed, but, it's definitely something to consider.

Since SMS is a priority for me, oddly enough, in this area AT&T it is. That's ironic, because I was warned that they were horrible when I started.

Sprint has been pretty much going downhill lately. They need to really kick themselves in gear and start expanding their network properly.

They came out with the whole 4G thing first, now they're last in providing it nationwide with an LTE network.

I've heard AT&T is actually decent in my area, so I will probably end up there...
    Nothing here right now.

None, just whatever works for your needs.

    In Canada you have two choices;

    1. Two major phone providers. Expensive. Ability to use throughout the country. Issues that you will have to call in about at least once every 6 months.

    2. About 5 smaller providers. Cheap. Very limited signal range. I haven't used them so I don't know how they deal with issues, but the fact that you could drop a call at anytime and there are limited reception areas is a major issue unless your world is limited to a 25 mile radius then your fine.

The provider I 'm with quietly changed their SMS rules and I had to find out on my invoice that I was suddenly charged for US messages. Somewhat embarrassing to tell clients do not SMS me anymore due to rule changes from my provider.

I remember years ago when messages were something like 10 cents per message, then free, now a dollar each.

Well, after much consideration I have went for a Sprint MVNO after talking to a salesman at a cell phone store and coming well prepared with companies I was looking into (Boost, Virgin, StraightTalk) which sadly would not work with my phone.

I'm a fan of Giffgaff. They use o2 for the network but they have a more personalised service quality than many of the larger company's, always willing to work with you rather than just read canned junk from a computer monitor. Rates are decent, too

I chose EcoMobile as it made the most sense for what I need and what I could use with my phone. So far, no issues.

It really depends on your needs. Since Eco-mobile suits your needs then that would be good for you.

Yeah, the cell phone service options in Canada have never impressed me. The cost seems pretty high for the good carriers there. :/

Is it Verizon that's planning to expand and add a Canadian presence...?

    Best Cell Phone Service?

I think it all depends on where you are located, where I live bell mobility had quality signal, and decent prices. I have been with them for 3 years and can't complain. I pay 75$ per month, and I can call anywhere in Canada anytime, unlimited text, 1gig of data, caller is, enhanced vm, call waiting, 3 way. I use my cell as my home phone, so I don't mind paying this amount, and I find I always have signal, and I live close to the USA border, when I am in Michigan I sometimes still get the bell network.

Verizon is the overall leader with AT&T a little behind.

Anyone been using t-mobile lately? I am on ATT, but would like to switch to t-mobile. Their pricing is very attractive.

Also anyone know why data subscribers have to pay for SMS. Why not just send the SMS via 3g/4g.

My wife and I also cancelled our home phone years ago and just use our mobile phones. It was an extra expense that was never used.

I do think $75 is a bit much, but mine is almost the same...and if not Bell, then Rogers, which is not the lessor of the two evils.

To be honest I'm not sure. Anything that steps into Canada get bought out by Rogers. Rogers is like EIG. There's been jokes that in a some years they will buy the name Canada and our country will be called Rogers. Years ago cable was monopolized by Rogers and the phone from Bell. That's it. After the monopoly was broken, many options started to arise. One of them was Sprint for business phone lines. No issues and half the price. Rogers bought it, took over, cancelled that service and raised the prices.

Also recently a regulation has been put in place to eliminate the mobile access fee and 3 year contracts.

It's unfortunate that even with research, your only options can be counted on one hand.

I have Sprint, and it is beyond terrible. I cannot be on the phone or access mobile internet in pretty much any store, and in fact just about anywhere indoors. Even at the office I have to literally stand against a window for anyone to be able to hear me, and I get constant "are you still there?" type questions.

The best phone company is really based upon what is best in your particular area. My phone provider is horrible, but for the majority of my uses it is not a problem. Most people would go mad with Sprint in my area.

I've used them all, on Verizon right now but considering going back to T-Mobile now that they offer free international data roaming.

Like most here I too agree Verizon and ATT are the best in terms of network connectivity...
That said in terms of technology used to deliver the service.. I think the best is zact.com.
I shifted from ATT about 2 months back and I am happy.
My bill has come down from $140+ a month to $25 a month..can't complain. :-D

Just see the video on their site and you'll understand how cool they are in terms of delivery of service. The only flip side they use the sprint network and google voice does not install. Rest is all great. You can change the plan on the fly without internet.

Good connection everywhere. I also have had good experience with Verizon.

I've used pretty much everyone over the years. I found T-Mobile to be terrible where I live (i.e. in the middle of the woods) and Verizon to be quite good. But, at the moment, I'm on ATT seeing as I get a big fat discount with where my wife works. They're ok, but could be better.

It really depends what you wish to proitize. If you like your calls and texts more then data Vodafone I would highly recommend, I am also with Vodafone as loads of VOIP services do free forwarding to Vodafone while they don't with the other networks(apart from tmobile).

However if you love your data and texts Giff Gaff is for you it uses the O2 network but you buy goodybags exmaple 500 minutes unlimited text and unlimited data for £10 a month.

Vodafone does the same offer for the same price but you only get 500MBs worth of data. You also have family group for £4 a month with Vodafone where 7 people can join in a group and everyone in that group can call each other for free. Only 1 person in that group has to pay the £4 a month.
