Blackhole vs Fail - Which is better for server optimization

I would like to know what is the prefered option for the default email address for our clients.

I beleive :blackhole would be better as the server does not have to bounce/send an email for each piece of spam...

We used to set the default email address to that of the client, but now there is just too much spam circulating and it is a bad idea.

    FYI .. we use cpanel

    Thanks

According to cPanel, fail will use less resources.

Blackhole has to accept the entire email, then trash it. Fail used to accept the entire email then send out the fail notice which caused mail queue problems, but a while back how fail works was changed. Now with fail, when the headers are sent to the server, it automatically rejects the message telling the sending server right away that the message is not being accepted. That's why fail is better now.

Either will work and the first just allows you to customise the error message.

Not the subject line, but added to the bounce message.
