restore time - r1soft vs rsync
Hi,
If a server OS got problem or hardware got damaged in an earthquake and the only way to fix it is to re-install OS and get backup files from R1soft backup space or Rsync backup space.
Please advise how long it will take normally for your guys to restore everything. Obviously if an inccident happens, there is no point to investigate it further and fix it, the quickest way is to get a new disk, install OS and restore client accounts as quick as possible. Probably to put the inccident drive on the side and study it afterwards.
Let's say use 1 hour to install OS, 1 hour to restore accounts, the files should be 300 gigs, how long will it take to restore through R1soft as it uses blocks instead of files? Rsync use files so it is something like transfering 300 gigs from 1 disk to another.
Consider the backup space is in the same dc or in a near location.
We all know it is fast to backup files through R1soft, but how fast to restore all things? I mean to restore everything below:
/etc
/var/log
/var/www
/home
...
What will happen if R1soft the software crashes and all blocks from R1soft in backup space will not be possible to be restored?
