I definitely agree with everyone saying NameCheap, but I'll tell you why. It's the support.

They had some support problems when they changed their site over, because of the new design and infrastructure, but now that everything is sorted and they've got their ducks back in a row, you simply can't beat their support.

They're online 24/7, and every time I contact them they have answers instantly, and I don't have to wait for them to ask their supervisors etc. It really shows a very well trained staff team.

Simply put, you pay a few extra bucks, but you pay for what you get. NameCheap is definitely the all around best provider, both domain-wise and SSL.

If you can afford the extra cash i would recommend going with thawte. Well known and they are a Root CA https://www.thawte.com/ssl/index.html. You can actually test out their certificates as well for 7 days i believe free of charge.

Your two big places are CheapSSLs now SSLs or GoGetSSL. Whichever is cheaper for your needs; both are fine. I have SSLs with both.

I have always been a fan of Namecheap, as mentioned above, their support is what makes it worth it in my opinion. There may be a few cheaper providers, but I prefer paying for the provider that has had quality support (quick responses) when necessary.

If you buy a domain, you can get one for $2. If you bought a domain from NameCheap yet passed on the deal, open a ticket and they'll invoice you for $2 and give you one.

StartSSL.org - their SSL certs are free. You just have to figure out how to chain them, but there is info on their site as well as through your favorite search engine. After you've done it once, it's easy after that. And then you can test your certs using one of the many freely available SSL cert testers out there.
