Burst.net Premium VPS speed, very bad???

    Hi,
I have some budget VPS with Burst.net, all fine. So i decide go with their Premium VPS (because i need higher speed) with features:

50% User Count, 1000M/1GBPS Ports, Burstable RAM, Higher UBC Limits, Higher Bandwidth Allocations
    And here is test result:

    Code:
    wget cachefly.cachefly.net/100mb.test
    --2010-10-21 05:44:21-- http://cachefly.cachefly.net/100mb.test
    Resolving cachefly.cachefly.net... 205.234.175.175
    Connecting to cachefly.cachefly.net|205.234.175.175|:80... connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK
    Length: 104857600 (100M) [application/octet-stream]
    Saving to: `100mb.test'

    100%[======================================>] 104,857,600 10.6M/s   in 9.5s

    2010-10-21 05:44:30 (10.5 MB/s) - `100mb.test' saved [104857600/104857600]
Yes, 10.5MB/s, no better than their budget plan with 100mbps port.

And i submit ticket to complain about bad speed, here is reply:

    Code:
The issue appears to be not with the VPS but with the site you are trying to download from. From our own speed test:

    192744:/# wget burst.net/bigtest.tgz

They do test with file from same Datacenter (hosted at burst.net ) and the result is 11.0 MB/s. Can you imagine?

I dont think it's 1 gbps port, just 100 mbps only!!! And i ask for refund but they dont do!!! Please suggest me another budget VPS with REAL gige port

When I had my Premium VPS 1 with them last month I could upload at 35mB/s. Never tried downloading a file test.

Well if Burst doesn't solve it (chances are they will), QuickWeb has 1gbps ports on all the servers.
    Nothing here right now.

I have a VPS with both VPSLatch & BurstNET and can say I've had a lot less trouble with my $5.95 VPS @ burst.net. VPSLatch seems to like overselling quite too much for my taste. BurstNET is a real provider with a real support team. You don't find that often.

Could be better, but it depends on how many users are on the node.

I'm not sure how they get it that slow though. We've got gigabit servers in burst for VPS hosting and can average 72M/s on a live, loaded server so seams strange that burst cant get those speeds on their own servers :/

I would ask them to look into it again as something is wrong there.

Maybe the other server is 100mbps, have you tried cachefly with the "fixed" situation?

Here's a screenshot of our gigabit servers in Bursts DC to a cachefly file:

You are testing to a 100Mbps download file...so the speed will be limited on the other end you are connecting to, not on your node itself!

Our download test will not be upgraded to 1Gbps for another week or so yet, as it is located on a switch that needs be upgraded prior.
