    Google Exposes Web Surveillance Cams

    Just saw it on slashdot...

There are thousands of "unprotected" cameras exposed on google, now this might not be a big problem to an individual but what if terrorists use webcams to keep an eye on a target ?

For proof I was able to login to a camera owned by the state of oregon and control (yes CONTROL, rotate and zoom) on a Submarine docked there.

You can see for yourself by searching on google.

    That is so friggin stupid.

On the screensavers show I watched once they talked over the phone "with a real live [white head] hacker" and he said that he more then once could use google to find huge unprotected databases of sensitive info including credit cards!

Its your responsibility to block spiders from sensitive parts of your site.

Hey this camera control thing is cool.

If we are actually rotating the camera, what if more than one person is accessing that site?

I figured out an even better Google inurl: that finds unsecure Axis cameras. Once you are in you have complete control - it's possible to change camera DNS settings, change options, reinstall the software etc... very scary.

Not scary at all. We all know google is the biggest risk to security on the net. It's the System Administrator's job to ensure it's locked up tight. If he can't do that then maybe it's time for a replacement.
