    Windows Hyper-V 2012 Performance?

    Hi,

We are previously using Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V with guests. Any feedback on the performance of Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V? As we heard some performance issue regarding it. Is that true?

Also, as this Hyper-V is going to run Window OS, do you recommend using 15k HDD or 7.2kRPM? Because we are previously running 7.2kRPM and it seems we cannot hold too many guests in one Windows DC Hyper-V node.

For Linux, we assume 7.2kRPM is more than sufficient as Linux is less intensive than windows?

I've worked a bit with Windows 2012. but because it is new. I would say wait for a bit more till the bugs comes out. also I didn't like it at all. 2008 R2 is much better.

Well 15k HDD is faster, but depends on the budget and how much space do you need? and you know you need to put on a RAID. You can also try SSD if you want something much faster.

2012 is better in every regard, live migrations, storage moves etc. Performance is solid on both but better on 2012.

R2 edition is already in the pipeline, there likely won't be a service pack for 2012 first edition.

2012 hands down over 2008 R2 for host node however.
