    8 Cores - Equal Share

    Hi VPS experts,

Can you explain what "8 Cores - Equal Share" means in a VPS environment ? Thanks.

That means that the total amount CPU will be equally shared between the total amount of VPS instances on the CPU/Server.

Equal share works great for many - Just make sure the CPU is not throttled down to 500 Mhz per core

Pretty much what I was going to say, hosts can still put weighting on the CPU's but in real world application that only has an effects if the host system is under heavy load or your fighting for CPU time and if you are the chances are your DISK I/O would have killed you long before you worried about CPU Share.

    Thank you for all answers.

So, as the load in the SolusVM stats stays between 1 and 2, I guess that I don't have to worry about my CPU share.

No, it means that you have access to at most 8 cores at any given time (since it is a VPS and resources are shared).

But like backtogeek said, CPU isn't usually the first bottleneck for a VPS, it is disk I/O.
