    Opinions on 2checkout

    Hey everyone.
I would like to know what is your honest opinion and experience with 2checkout. Trying to see if this service would be the right choice for me. Before anyone jump in with "why not PayPal" because i already have PP but the problem is my clients cant pay me with CC. Reason is my country (Croatia) and even we are in EU that option is not available for me. So when my client want to pay me they have only two ways, to pay me with their PP or to open a PP account and then pay me.
Until now this was not a problem because majority of my clients were foreigners who are familiar with PP but lately i start to have more and more inquiries from corporations from my country. Honestly i would like to cash out all that inquiries but the problem is rarely any Croatian corporation have PP.
Before you jump in with your comment keep in mind:
    - i never had chargebacks, all my work is based on signed contract so no playing around
    - i'm not using any 3rd party service aside of payment processor (for now only PP)
    - just need solution to be able to accept CC from my clients
    - before you start how good or bad 2co is keep in mind my situation
    - I often come to the conclusion that my brain has too many tabs open. -

    or
"not limited unlimited with no limits".

There are mixed reviews for 2CO over the internet. However, it has worked like a charm for us. Once it is integrated with your system no looking back. The support tickets that we have opened have been addressed properly so far. We are using them for more than 15 months now.

Never had a single issue with 2co.com and from what I see, the most of the negative reviews you can find, you need to ask people what business they actually do and you will most often find the answer to why 2co responded to them as they did.

    Just my 2cents.

I wanted to see how the communication will go before i open account there. Sent email to support friday with 12-13 questions and got their mail yesterday with clear and separate answer to all my questions. So i would say first round was good. I know many times people will give negative review with missing parts from their story so not all bad is actually bad.
Anyway thank you MilesWeb and fionix for sharing your experience with 2co.

Would never ever ever ever recommend 2CO again after the experience others had and then I ended up in the same boat. You could say I should have read the signs. Search 2CO Fraud on WHT or Google.

We haven't had any issues with 2checkout over the last 5+ that we have been using them. Tickets we have opened have been responded quickly and professionally.

They are good except you need to make sure you do not get many charge backs otherwise your account will be closed. You will not need to have separate Paypal account as they do accept payment via paypal too.

For example: 2co will threaten to closeyou because you had many attempts to buy on your shops with stolen credit cards, attempts from the same people within the same country !!!

But why do we pay them ? To check fraud !!! But their service is ridiculous, even if i still use it !

my opinion: Their fee is considered high
but majority of people complain about charge-backs etc, as you mentioned that your clients are companies & nothing like chagebacks, so 2CO is the best option.
in my case someone also suggested me "I2C Inc"

Their fees are high. I think someone else mentioned Braintree yesterday. Check them out, they may be a better fit. Lower fees and owned by Paypal, but totally separate from Paypal. I don't use either, but I think Braintree would be better than 2co.

It depends. I had\have many accounts for my websites(not hosting) on the same subject, some were closed because of chargebacks (more than 1% and you are done), some are still working (3 years)... Some were blocked without a reason, just "upstream provider told us to close this account". But the main reason was the chargebacks.
But even when the account was closed, I got my money back 3 months after the last chargeback.

@ tvps-kiran & buythiscomputer: Did you even bother to read my post aside of the title?
@ everyone else: Thank you for your information, looks like i should be ok with 2co as my chargeback in 20 years doing my job is zero. And for my understanding this is the main reason why 2co could block my account.
To be more expensive is something i must sort on my side and see if i need to correct my prices. Maybe put one price for PP and another for CC. I dont have many solutions on the table when it comes to CC payments.

Disclaimer: I was / still am freelancer dev...

I was hired by CCNow (system accepting payments) to diagnose some issues with some middle eastern client not being able to receive back payment success/fail
POST from one of the third party shopping carts CCNow supports.

It took me quite a bit of time to figure out that dude had firewall that went haywire and blocked POST on just that one URL that we needed it to POST to.

How / why / when? beats me. No bug there to fix, so moved the job to Sys Admin dude.

So i asked the guy, why did you decide to suddenly move from 2CO (his web had orders from there so i knew it was not just getting started) and he goes
"they banned my account and froze my $18k of revenue because of some regulation..."

so i insisted on details... and...

It turns out that 2CO boarded him knowing they have a policy in their contract that would allow them to close his acc at later stage cause the leather jackets he sold were referred to as

    "$actor, $movie, leather jacket replica"

i.e. using movie trademarks without permission which is in direct violation of some section 44 paragraph 942...
(I just made those up but you get the idea)

So 2 months later (just before first payout - go figure) - bam, account closed due to section 44...

I asked the dude if he had all this products and trademarks there when they boarded him and he goes
"i sell leather jackets based from characters wearing in movies, what do you think?"

That would be my 2nd hand experience with 2CO.

So to recap, i would personally never go with any of the big ones like PayPal... somewhere in the process of getting big they lost their way... On the other hand smaller ones would help you,
even go as far as hire programmer free of charge to help you fix issues you might have. (of course, if you move 4$ a month no point in extra effort but that is understandable)

I would not call 2Checkout or CCNow small but certainly smaller than PayPal, so maybe there is hope.

CCNow would be 2Checkout alternative that's very long in the business (therefore respectable) that has both CC and PayPal options and 0 problems with Croatia.

How does first part relate to you selling design/dtp services with 0 chargebacks - it doesn't. Just like i wrote, that's response from reading just your post title.

@beri: Well thank you for your post but like you already have concluded many of the problems people have with 2co really do not apply to me. Another thing is that i'm the one who is creating products what are in one way or another IP so worst thing what could happen is someone stealing from me.
When i said i never had chargebacks that doesnt mean no one ever try this "option". Honestly i had them few times in my career but all ended with out-of-court settlement with pretty big loss for people who wanted to abuse chargeback system. Not to mention others who literally just stole my work.
Anyway back to the subject of this topic, thank you for your suggestion and for sure i will take a look at CCNow. Right now i'm in the process to rebuild my website (soon will be done) so i still have time to decide what other option i will take aside of PayPal.

We were actually in the midst of switching to 2CO but it looks like, there are more negative reviews than the positive one's. I guess we have to hold back from switching for now.

I prefer 1 step checkout rather than 2TO. I don't want my customers abandon checkout because there are too many steps to buy a product. The easier customers get, the more money we can earn

I have to agree. Some customers feel their privacy is being taken for taking too much time just to pay for that service.

Using it for 8 Years + and has mixed feeling on it. The worst thing was sometime they marked "Passed" payment as "Fraud" after 24 hours later where we don't have any chance to recover.

    High fee is other concern.

If above two issues are not exists, 2Checkout is the world best payment processor for me.
