    Question about video hosting

I am currently using dedicated servers for video hosting. However, if one video gets too popular then streaming slows down for the the other videos. How do large video hosting sites handle all their traffic? Do they still use dedicated servers or something else?

What do you think youtube dailymotion or metacafe would use?

What are your server details? You may need to upgrade to a better processor and need more ram.

Try using a CDN service? It would take the load off your server.

Taking a leaf from YouTube, you may like to consider the following.

    a) Load balance your front end web servers to handle the traffic

    b) Setup a mini cluster to serve videos

    c) Cache your more popular videos on a CDN

What upload methods do CDNs have? I am currently using maxcdn and they only have rsync and ftp

Instead of using a CDN would moving popular videos to a separate dedicated server only used for popular videos work?
