I'm using Windows XP Professional.
Internet is accessed through a router that connects to a Cable modem. (I believe this is what you need?)

I'd be pretty careful about a zip file attached by a user with 6 posts... maybe wait to hear from some others on the info you want.

Just log into your routers interface and forward whatever port you need opened to your internal IP.

or 10.0.0.1 , or maybe even 172.16.0.1...

What it boils down to, is:
1) Log into the web administration interface for your router. This varies depending on the manufacturer and model, so look up the IP and login information
2) Forward the port to your local IP address (aka your 'internal' address)
3) Enjoy

If you are talking about the default firewall of the Windows XP then you can have a look at its configuration at Network Neighbourhodod Properties and then Firewall Tab
