stevegarbz: lol?
stevegarbz: I use a Mac
stevegarbz: my computer doesn't have problems like this, sorry
stevegarbz: the images are fine
Dustin Cisneros: No they are not.
stevegarbz: all you need to do is upload them and code them into your site
stevegarbz: that's because you are not a graphic designer
stevegarbz: I've tried to help you, but you are too ignorant to understand
stevegarbz: it is a TRANSPARENT image file (PNG format)
stevegarbz: it works perfectly fine
stevegarbz: if you want a JPG, open it up in Photoshop (as you requested the PSD file) and save it in whatever format you choose
Dustin Cisneros: Ok let me post this on WHT and file a dispute via PayPal... I paid you money and now you just sent me images which dont even work.
stevegarbz: The originals, saved pngs and all formats/versions of the image are fine and working without any issues
stevegarbz: lol?
stevegarbz: you will look like an idiot on WHT
stevegarbz: I will post this entire discussion
Dustin Cisneros: Thats fine.
stevegarbz: Great
stevegarbz: btw, intangible goods are non-refundable via PayPal
stevegarbz: and I already delivered you all files
stevegarbz: I am truly sorry you lack the ability to open a simple image file on your computer
stevegarbz: Take care!

First off, let me clarify a few things prior to posting. I contacted SemoWeb promptly after he posted this thread and was able to design his images (to his liking) within about 10-15 minutes. Here are that chat logs that everything was good to go and that he wanted the files (which were received -- the link with the zip has since been removed):
3:11:03 PM stevegarbz: yeah, I can send you both as soon as I receive payment
3:11:05 PM stevegarbz: sgarbus@gmail.com
3:11:09 PM stevegarbz: I'll make both separate
3:11:13 PM i.webhost: ok
3:12:15 PM i.webhost: send the psd aswell
3:13:06 PM stevegarbz: I am
3:13:20 PM i.webhost: Moneys been sent...
3:14:22 PM stevegarbz: http://stevegarbus.com/clients/semoweb/semoweb.zip
Prior to sending the files, he was having an issue when I linked him to a PNG file and he stated that it was "opening in QuickTime". I knew this client was going to be a problem from the beginning and he wouldn't take my advice with anything I was trying to help him with. He had told me to use specific dimensions (175px), although after showing him my first mockup, asked for it to be a bit bigger. I increased the image size to 200px and he was complaining about "they haven't been changing", that "it still looks the same" and he "wasn't able to save it".
Anyways, a few minutes after delivering the files to him, he messages me with the following:
3:15:49 PM i.webhost: Cant open the image...
3:15:53 PM stevegarbz: it's a zip file
3:15:57 PM i.webhost: Yea
3:16:00 PM i.webhost: got that opened
3:16:03 PM i.webhost: but the image...
3:16:19 PM stevegarbz: it's a psd and a png
3:16:23 PM stevegarbz: for both online and offline
3:16:34 PM i.webhost: This Is not a valid bitmap file or its formant is currently not supported
After that, the convo paused for a few minutes as he said:
3:18:31 PM i.webhost: Yeah ill get this open.
Well, obviously not. The OP is too incompetent to open a PNG file (which I provided a link to Wikipedia explaining what they are) or the original Photoshop PSD files (even though he requested them?)!
As stated, files were approved & delivered to the OP. I made every effort to satisfy and help him out, but his incompetence was too much. I'm not going to be constantly disrespected by a client whom I had already created and delivered files to. Anyone that doesn't have the ability to open a PNG file or upload it to their own website to see that it's correct and working is truly a disappointment.
For those interested, I took a screenshot (http://stevegarbus.com/clients/semow...oweb_issue.jpg) of the images I sent & packed up to him via a zip file. I cannot link to the original files as they are still property of the OP (he paid me). I do not provide refunds and providing original artwork, especially after him requesting the files & approving the design.
I look forward to all those who wish to chime in!
Again, here is the image of what I provided him with:

Your incompetency is hardly a representation of "horrible service". As I said, it's a TRANSPARENT PNG. The only reason that square black border is there is because that's the actual dimensions of the file and since it's transparent, your software is outlining the edges so you know the canvas size of the image. The background of the image isn't grey (which it is in your version), meaning that it's functioning exactly as it should be -- transparent! If you actually took the time to upload it on the web, you'd see that it shows up fine (without the border) and can be displayed anywhere and on any background color.
Once again, your incompetence is hardly a representation of horrible service.
Thanks again!

The back ground is used from the screen shot programm which made it gray...
Also there's no reason for you to reply any more your service is horrible.
I hired Sumit Kumar to fixed your problems and he should be done in the next ten minutes any how thanks for your help although you seem to still need help with your skills.〓〓 RackNerd LLC - Introducing Infrastructure Stability

Hahahaha, to fix my problems?
All he needs to do is open the Photoshop file & save for web in JPG format, which takes all of about 10 seconds (literally) to do. Again, the only thing that will do for you is allow your computer to view it (because not everyone's computer is set up as incorrect as yours). Just because you assume you "can't view" a PNG file because it has a cropping border on it doesn't mean it has a problem.
Hope you're happy hiring someone to save your image in a different format. If you wouldn't have been so hostile and disrespectful I would have done this for you free of charge.
Take care!

Looks like Sumit Kumar just scored an easy job, LMAO.
*****eb, sgarbus is correct, there is nothing wrong with the image. You just paid someone to fix something that wasn't broke.
Looking at your site again, your live support button has changed to a simple blue GIF with a white background. The image sgarbus sent you, aside from being nicer looking, had a CLEAR background, meaning no matter what color page you put it on, it would have matched. Try putting your GIF image on another color page, see what happens.Last edited by bayouhost_tonya; 01-15-2010 at 07:37 PM.

Sorry, disrespect may have not been the best word to use. What I meant to say was immature & incompetent.
Anyways, that is all. I've already proved you wrong countless times in this thread as have other reputable members of WHT. Once again, I am truly sorry for your incompetence and not understanding how a transparent image functions.

I understand your frustration Steve, but I honestly dont think this is the best way to communicate to your clients. Not everyone understands the specifics of web design so its best to design things to fit their needs, not yours.
From your website:
"I can proudly say that my customers are my first priority and always will be. Rest assured, your project will be completed to your exact specifications and on-time for whatever deadline you're being pushed to meet."
Obviously you didn't complete it to his exact specifications...Last edited by Payton Designs; 01-15-2010 at 10:50 PM.

Well even though I disagree on Steve's action in another thread where the refunds are being delayed, I am siding him in this matter. He doesn't seem to do anything wrong at all and I believe Dustin is being swayed by other members and thought that he got ripped off, which does not seem to be the case here at all.
@OP: I am not sure whether you know any basic knowledge about website design, but in my honest opinion I believe you should have heed Steve's advise in uploading the image to your website before you accuse him of anything.
@Payton: "Obviously you didn't complete it to his exact specifications..." sounds a little like flaming a competitor as I believe Steve have done his best to please Dustin, but it looks like Dustin's PC is indeed causing him issue and it is not due to Steve's design or services.

Of course i do...
And the screen shot that i provided is what it looks like...
Steve is making it seem like everything is alright but i have no knowledge of a png file etc... What really happend is when he showed me the design it was multiple in 1 design so when it came time to pay and i decided which one i liked and it was time for him to send the image i liked not an image that has 3 other samples it wasnt the same.. After he got the money he pretty much failed to work further with me... He then said if i wasnt disrespecful to him he would of fixed this FREE of charge.. So then i asked him to freely tell us how i was disrespecful then he state's he shouldnt have said that im more immature and just incompetence so that being said he just is a child which love's to rip.
Also as he stated..
stevegarbz: btw, intangible goods are non-refundable via PayPal
stevegarbz: and I already delivered you all files
stevegarbz: I am truly sorry you lack the ability to open a simple image file on your computer
stevegarbz: Take care!
stevegarbz: you will not be receiving a refund
Which lead's me to think im not the only person he ripped as he knows how these things go so i searched this forum and "shockingly" found other thread's which other WHT member's have created about his horrible services..

I am not really getting your explanation here. Can you explain in proper English with separate sentences and not mixing everything in one line? I am sorry if this sounds rude but it can make us understand the situation better.
What really happend is when he showed me the design it was multiple in 1 design so when it came time to pay and i decided which one i liked and it was time for him to send the image i liked not an image that has 3 other samples it wasnt the same..

Basically, the first mockup I provided to him had both the online and offline images laid out into 1 image (so he could see the preview of both at once). After agreeing that the design was good, I sent the files (a PSD and PNG of both the online and offline images separated so he could instantly use them on his site).
As you can tell by his continued disrespectful replies, I am not a fraud, scam, child, rip or anything that has to come out of his immature mouth.
Thanks!

You're both as bad as each other folks and WHT isn't a great place to post this story unless you're both looking for a bad notch on your rep.
Steve - not in 7 years of business have I spoken to my clients like that, especially the quote below. Most of the conversation you had was pretty disrespectful considering you're providing service to someone who is paying part of your living income. If I spoke to clients like that, I'd be pretty sure they wouldn't come back again.
stevegarbz: btw, intangible goods are non-refundable via PayPal

I didn't post any story -- I posted facts after semoweb came here with the intention to ruin my reputation due to his incompetence.
I tried to help him out through the entire conversation -- from when he couldn't view the mockup PNG images because his browser was "opening it in QuickTime" through the end of the conversation when I told him where to place the images and what to do with them. He had also been telling me to increase the width of the image (he liked one that was 175px). I create one first with those chat bubbles 175px wide, then that was not big enough, so I increased it to 200px. After doing that, he continues to tell me that the image is the same size and hasn't changed one bit!!! Right!??! Do you also think it's fair that the OP filed a dispute/claim with PayPal in attempt to get his project funds back after RECEIVING ORIGINAL ARTWORK? You of all people should know better!
It's impossible to help out someone who is unwilling and won't listen to what you're saying, especially when their first line of defense is to post on WHT with libelous intentions.
I am not a "child, rip, con" or whatever semoweb tries to call me. I provided 2 images which he loved within a matter of 10-15 minutes from start to finish. Before we could even get past the first 15 minutes, he felt the need to post to WHT because the PNG wasn't rendering properly on his computer -- obviously due to a poor or incorrect setup.
I'll be the first to admit when a situation is my fault and I should be held responsible -- but this isn't one.Last edited by sgarbus; 01-16-2010 at 12:51 PM.

Who said it was your fault?
I said your communication skills weren't great at all due to your lack of patience. I believe if you re-phrased or re-iterated what your client needed to do you could have both resolved the situation between yourselves instead of it escalating to this. Yes it may have taken more of your time, but surely happy customers are a priceless commodity.
Even your post above is quite rude. You have referred to your client as incompetent infront of potentially hundreds of other possible clients reading this thread.
I'm not up for discussion, it's none of my business - but my advice whether you want it or not is to resolve it off the boards where your clients and Semo's customers can read it.

I have worked with many "incompetent" clients and have taken care of them with the utmost respect, professionalism and helpfulness. Semoweb is the first client I've ever had that received artwork which he approved of and THEN posted negatively on WHT. If he wouldn't have resorted to WHT and a PayPal claim/dispute so quickly, I would have saved a version in JPG format as he obviously needed. I was under the impression he was going to use them directly from me onto his website, which is why I supplied transparent PNG images (and the Photoshop PSD files as he requested -- I was under the impression he had Adobe PS installed). I am not at fault for his misunderstanding of how those images work -- I tried to explain it to him (see the Wikipedia link for PNG images I sent to him). If he would have read it for even 2 minutes he probably would have been able to understand the concept. I would have continued helping him if he didn't insist my image was "broke" and what I sent him was not working. Instead he came post libelous comments on WHT after approving & receiving the design.

I think you're missing my point, you're calling him an incompetent person .. as in a mentally deficient person. Not that he lacks competency in the technical aspect of design.
Good luck with that to you both, I'm out
