Opinions: LinkedIn
Other than the obvious backlinks, what are your opinions on the SEO worthiness of setting up company information and links on LinkedIn's website?

I wouldn't bother registering/using LinkedIn profile just to get a few links pointing to my website. The LinkedIn profiles do not work for SEO and it must be like that. Otherwise spammers will be all over the place.

Yeah I have a linkedin account, it posts my wordpress blog to it but other than that it does not provide any more for backlinks.

Okay, thanks. I have a Linkedin page for other purposes, and was just curious about making it dual purpose.

That would be a great idea to set up a company profile on linkedin. This will generate some traffic and might convert those traffics into some potential clients. You should also set up a twitter and facebook account for branding.

Social media details is very important because facebook and twitter both sites provide any type of links details so linkedin page details also good.

For backinks SEO not worth the effort. However if you are using to promote your business within Linkedin you should optimise your Linkedin profile by using headings etc in the normal SEO ways.

I've done millions in business over LinkedIn alone. Many of our employment leads come from LinkedIn, and we've negotiated entire contracts just by sending a PM to the VP of any given company.
I would not worry about LinkedIn as a SEO tool, but definitely use it for professional networking.
