I am looking at the following server configuration for a hosting company. Please tell me what you think:

    Redhat 6.2 OS
    Intell PII-400
    256 MB Memory
    8.4 GB HD
    8.4 GB HD
    8.4 GB HD

I want to use the first two hard drives for accounts. This way if one should crash, I will still have part of the accounts up. The third hard drive will be for daily back-ups. I can tar the files on the first two drives and save them to the third drive.

How well will this set-up work?

The price for this server, with 20 GB transfer and 32 IP address is $330/month with a $280 set up fee. Sounds reasonable to me.

    Thanks for your input,

    Redman

It soudns pretty decent, but yuy should be aware that Red Hat Linux 6.2 has some major security problems, which is why so many companies are still using 6.1

With three hard drive, you could set it up as a RAID system and not evne have to worry about backups.
