Their live chat shows Sales as online but Tech support and billing as offline. I'd be worried about a host that does that, especially when they make claims about 24/7 live support. I'd backup your site(s) immediately and find a better host. Don't bank on getting your money back, some hosts are notoriously tricky when it comes to trying to get a refund.

A member from another thread says they have had their servers hacked. Definitely time to abandon ship.

AltusHost is a lot like Godaddy -- by this I mean you could print out the name of 100 random hosts, pin the pages to a wall, and then throw a dart at the list. Any host you hit is a better one. Pretty much anything that could be wrong with a host is wrong with AltusHost.

Within the past several days, they were apparently using a nulled/hacked outdated version of WHMCS, which was then itself hacked with a known exploit from December. Search WHT or Google for Altushost, and you'll quickly find more complaints that go back several years.

Find a new host ASAP. And best wishes to you.

    -----

    Worth noting:
In their defense, however, Pingdom isn't very reliable for showing actual uptime/downtime.

Sorry to hear your issues mate. It could have been a better way if they replied to the ticket and explain their side. Communication is a key point if you are running a reputable business. Or did they lose your ticket also during the recent hack issue above mentioned ?

Never go for altushost. I had my website with them on the VPS and it went down for fu*king 3 days without any information from their side. So I asked them to move my site to the other node which is functional and guess what they did? they fu*king formatted my whole server and than transferred my account to the other node. That was a big disaster for me and I am still not able to get over with it.

I asked for the compensation for my loss and they said that they can provide me the 2 months free hosting!! Oh yea? Risking my business again with them?

Wow, that is horrible. For future reference make sure your next host has off-site backup, or make a backup every week and download it to your computer.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience. Did you file a charge back on your card? What made you sign up with them in the first place? As others have said, you should have backups in place, and always keep them, regardless of what the hosts says.

Check the offers section and read some reviews, and chose a different hosting company. Best of luck

We had security issue, that's correct. And due that some of servers were powered off until we didn't checked if they were compromised or not. That cause this downtime.

Customers who issued bigger downtime or file loss got 2 months free. Someone says it's not enough to cover your loss. Ok, we do agree on this.
However, you cannot ask hosting company to pay you for you extra fee because your business was ruined by downtime.
Also, keeping own backups is something that any hosting company, suggest to clients.
We had backups of 90% servers, however, for some of them we didn't.

We are not trying to make any excuses. But isn't it reasonable to have own backups of your business website if you it's important for you?

Also, in our TOS following is stated. Each client agreed to TOS before sing up.
    Backups
AltusHost's hosting accounts include a nightly backup service, however these backups are for AltusHost's administrative purposes only, and are in NO WAY GUARANTEED! Customers are responsible for maintaining their own backups on their own personal computers. AltusHost does not provide any sort of compensation for lost or incomplete data in the event that backups do not function properly (even if the malfunction was due to negligence on AltusHost's part). We will do our best to ensure complete and accurate backups, but assume no responsibility for this duty. Always back your site up to your personal computer! We make no guarantees about the availability of backups.
You can read full TOS here
    =============================

Our loyal clients understood the issue and they accepted our offer of 2 months free. Also, we are implementing r1Soft backups now, therefor in future we will have backups for all shared hosting / openvz vps servers.

Technical Support were down because hack on our company happened on 07/02
so we were totally overloaded with support tickets.
All that caused slower response then usual and our technical support operators were unavailable for sometime.

However, we were constantly updating our clients about situation on social networks as well as over tickets.

Ok, let's make 1 thing clear.
AltusHost Inc. is Authorized WHMCS Partner, we supply our customers with WHMCS licenses. And we are WHMCS customer since 2008. Feel free to contact WHMCS and verify that.
So, we didn't used nulled version of WHMCS. And we did updated WHMCS properly.
Also, this attack was well planned because hacked knew exactly what he is hitting. They attached our management server instead of server where our website is hosted.

And we are 99% sure that whole this hack was done by some also hosting company, who is trying to kill competitors on such way.
If you read more on the WHT or google around, you will see that we wasn't 1st company who were hacked in last few months.

Most of hacked companies, closed their doors for customers and gone.
We will never done such thing. We told true to our customers and we didn't kept them in dark.

Any client who were affected by this attack will get 2 months free with us or we will return their money for last paid invoice. We will not steal money from anyone, since it's not the way we are doing our business.
That's why we are in business successfully since 2008, but as we all can see, for someone it was bad and he tried to close us. But whoever it was, he were totally wrong

Your server had been hacked many times. Last time your whole shared servers were rooted. You formatted my server for no reason by giving me the lame excuse and my websites went down for 15 days, you really don't know what a downtime of 15 days can do to the business, do you? and now the same thing is happening again and again. Surely what doesn't kill you makes you stronger but did it make you smarter? Did you learn from your mistakes?

^ This is always such a lame and immature thing to say.
^ If hackers are your business competition, then you're honestly not much a host.

In fact, let me return some advice: "Maybe one of your friends hacked it."

I was of their customer on VPS, and I can say their support team isn't good in term of skill and manner. I have some host name is bad languange for my VPS, and yet the vps is ruined. I can't setup myslq properly. Every time they re-installed, it was ****ed up. LOL.

Then I terminated my service with them. So, this news is really just in time.

    They are fraud

my ticket number at altushost is #972873, #372877, #515345 and #259838 . if you read the above post they said

Any client who were affected by this attack will get 2 months free
its all fraud instead of making my server live after their DDOS attack which they claim hacked their network ... they suspended my account and put extra late fees on my account instead of giving me 2 months free. They just want to steal more money never get hosting from them trust me they steal money...
