Cisco 4948 to sfp+ or qsfp?
I have a pair of CISCO WS-C4948-10GE's that I need to connect to a new 10Gb switch that supports sfp+ and qsfp. The cisco switches don't currently have X2 modules installed. I have never dealt with fiber before, so I wanted to see if you guys had some suggestions to make this happen. Will these work in a 4948? http://www.amazon.com/Cisco-OneX-Con...ords=x2+sfp%2B
If so, I suppose I could use something like this: http://www.cablesondemand.com/catego...FbRxMgod22YA5w
and connect both 4948's to a single qsfp port?

My ignorance of fiber is really showing with this one. I "believe" I have a better understanding. Would I be correct in saying that I need these SR modules on the cisco side: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cisco-origin...item417a8d35ea
Then, on the switch with sfp+ ports, I can pick up an SR to SFP+ transceiver like this: http://www.advantageoptics.com/SFP-1...FXQiMgodLD8AQA
and finally, an SR calbe such as this: http://www.colfaxdirect.com/store/pc...idproduct=1551
Am I on the right track here?

Look like you trying to deploy fiber but you are not sure what kind of adapter you need for the fiber connection. Looking further at your switch/router. i have come up with the following plan. You need this adapter

Doesn't that module only support 1gb? My cisco switch supports 10gb connections in the two x2 module slots which is why I was looking at these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cisco-origin...item417a8d35ea

That looks like a GBIC module, not compatible with the 4948s.
OP: Just grab a SR X2 module, and a 10G-SR SFP+ for the other switch, an LC-SC OM3/4 patch lead and you are done.
Or like you said, use a QSFP fanout cable providing your "new" switch supports 4 x 10G fan out and use the X2 jackets you mentioned in your first post. I've never tried using an X2 jacket and DA cable on the 4948s, but I don't see why it wouldn't, unless someone wants to come along and correct me..(?)█ EX Networks Limited (EXN)

I've used a couple things, but the best "deal" is to use an X2 to SFP+ converter, and then use a DAC cable. If you're connecting to a switch with
a QSFP breakout cable, that should work ok but you'll need to tell the Cisco switch to ignore that you're using non-Cisco optics.AppliedOperations - Premium Service
