If you listen to the video, it sounds like this is revenge beating.. In october the guy getting beat was part of a 20 on 2 jumping..

    http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2012/01/...investigation/

"As CBS 2′s Derrick Blakley reports, the victim allegedly took part in an October attack in which 20 teens jumped on two others."

Not only no parenting, but the laws won't let you put some truth on their butts anymore. Every time I see an apple or a peach tree my butt and legs start stinging in remembrance of being a little on the naughty side when I was a kid.

It is difficult to explain violence, and such acts can lack rhyme or reason. Perhaps it was revenge, but it is sad regardless.

There are such people in every country, not only the U.S.

Basic nature of violence cannot be fathomed. Here, it seems that they were enraged due to racial intolerance.

Bad Parenting is almost always the cause for youths and their behaviour these days. You have to be stern but loving with your kids to let them know where you stand and also to ensure that both of you are on the same page.

I give my kids responsibility to let them know that we are all a part of a team and each team player is a valued member of the family. My 6 year old daughter helps us make the bed on a morning and also leads in prayer at times. This teaches her how to be responsible, respectful and humble. (long list of other benefits)

You always have to look for opportunities to spend time with your kids, show them that you love them and let them know how valuable they are to you and everyone around them!

On a side note, we pretend to be in need of help with my youngest daughter who cares so much that she runs (just barely ) to our aid which shows that she has a big heart which needs to be taken care of most cautiously.

Love all of my kids to death

I decline to believe that these 7 punks represent very many of today's young people. I see quite a few outstanding citizens who happen to be young. These young people, who seem like a majority to me, reject racism, hatred and prejudice because they have been taught properly.

The fact that almost everyone is condemning this video is evidence to support a positive view of our young people.

What bothers me today is when you see video's like this. It's always someone getting jumped, 5vs1, 10vs1, there's no honor in that.

When I grew up, something like this was virtually non-existant. Certainly people fought, but not like this....

    So Lynch mobs never existed?

This video shows some decency.. there were no 2x4's, brass knuckles, bats, just fists and boots... and this was more of a "**** with us, we **** with you" kind of thing, they didn't do it to kill him or put him in the hospital.. if they really wanted to, they could've done MUCH worse.

If I was to be jumped by 6 people, I'd rather have it be like this, than a lot of the other scenarios that I've seen, and heard about.. Especially if I somehow deserved this to happen to me - like the "victim" did in this video.

They have always existed. Maybe it's youtube, but I see way too much of it today.

I would say bad parenting, most parents are working all hours of the day now so kids go wild!

That's no excuse IMHO, both my parents worked full-time, I was what was then termed (I think) a latch-key kid, in other words, I got myself home from school, let myself in & did my own thing until my parents got home. Never did I 'go wild'

I hate seeing things like that.

This is what happens when people have kids who aren't fit for raising them. I understand you can't keep your children in eyesight 24/7, and am not suggesting that needs to be done. But a good parent would have embedded into their child's mind by that age that what they're doing is NOT okay.

What on earth do kids at that age have to be so angry about that they resort to violence?

I hope the kid getting beat up knows who the other kids are, and isn't afraid to tell on them. I hope the cowards doing this get more than a slap on the wrist. If I were their age and did something like that, I'd be walking out into a field to find a switch, cleaning the leaves off of it, handing it to my step-dad and gritting my teeth waiting for it to hit my hind ass.

It's not just parenting.. It's not just family, it's not just your environment, it's not just your education.. It's a combination of everything that surrounds you that makes you who you are.

How do you know that some of those kids are so loyal and loving that knowing that a friend of theirs was also beaten, why not give that in return?

How do you know their parents aren't loving? How many loving, responsible parents say "I can't believe he's capable of that"

How many people lie, cheat, steal, fight that come from good homes?

So true. This is nothing compared to what you can see some places overseas, or even past our southern border. (not meant to downplay the violence in the video)

I wouldn't say things have changed all that much, we're just much more informed now.

Dont worry, the 1950's will be back should SOPA/PIPA get passed.
