Hello,
One of our upstream network providers experienced some issues from 6:40AM - 7:10AM Pacific this morning. We are still waiting to hear from their NOC as to the cause. Our link / BGP session with them wasn't ever down, but throughput and latency was far below normal performance levels, causing our network to be very slow for users who were accessing our network over that link. Traffic appears to have normalized for the most part now, but we are continuing to monitor for any further issues.

Seems ok from here..
Although based on the above, then that would explain it.
Tbh, If traffic is being dropped via transit or a peer then either depref it or stop advertising your routes out of it until your sure they have fixed the issues upstream..

Lynxus,
We've been running our own multi-homed network for about 6 years now, so we've got a pretty good handle on managing network issues, but thanks for the suggestions. In this case the upstream provider in question only experienced a partial outage on a some routes, and by the time we were in a position to put a fix in place the event was clearing up.
ggItzOle,
If you are still having any issues with your server, please let us know. Our network has been 100% back to normal as of 7:10, so you should be back online and working normally.

Sure you have, Just thought you should know our policies on things like that.
Normally we simply take them out of service completely until the all clear from them as further outages just cause bigger headaches ( been bitten before by things like this.. )
For example, We do a few gig a second to level3. They had a "blip" that lasted 30 - 60 seconds.. We thought nothing of it.. ( Note: We have like 4 other transits & Plenty of peers on both LINX lans )
Then a few hours later it happened again for a few seconds and then happened again and remained broken for a lot longer and thus pissing a lot of our clients off. ( Some VERY large companies
So while its not a dig at you or your policies, Im just saying that it *may* be worth revising these kind of policies considering the implications can be dyer.. Then again.. It all depends how much money you stand to loose or not.
