    Dual xeon 5410 or Dual Nehalem 5520 ?

    Dual xeon 5410 or Dual Nehalem 5520 ?

    iam haveing the following config

    1.Dual Xenon 5410 8core
    16GB ram ddr2

    2.Dual Nehalem 5520 16core hyperthreading
    12GB DDR3 ram

    so what will be the best processer on your view?

    The Nehalem still has only 8 cores, but has hyperthreading, and will probably be a better choice, depending how processor hungry your applications are.

    I'd definitely go with the Nehalem.

    because i upgraded dual xeon 5510 to dual nehalem 5520

    nehalem is definately the way to go

    it is also bulit for virtualization optimzation if you ever run anything like vmware on it.

    The biggest question is: "What are you using that server for?". Most times people use an "overkill" box, pay more money and don't utilize even half of it's potential.

    yes iam running vmware on it,but i see i like old cpu

    the normal load of old cpu will be 3-4 now it increase to 5-7

    but once differnce is befoew i used nginx now iam running apache 2.2

    let me try nginx and tell you the result,mean time any suggestion for tweek apache?

    There are many things you can do to optimize the server - it might not even be apache related. I would need to be in the server to look at the full setup to make a recommendation properly.
