    Question

I am looking to start a web hosting business and was considering co-locating. I've seen posts about bandwidth before. With most colo programs you can receive 50 mb/mo bandwidth. If I am reselling accounts what are the potential uses of bandwidth. I know it can vary greatly, but is there any stats on what the average site uses (say for a 25 meg, 100, or 500 meg site). I want to offer the above sized accounts. What would be reasonable bandwidth. I figured anywhere from 1-5 gigs from the 25-500 megs of space.

What have others run into when hosting from a colo or dedicated server. Is bandwidth a huge problem or do most accounts use very minimal? Just looking for guidance.

    Thanks

Most sites use very minimal bw. 98% won't use more than 1-2 a month.

I would also say that if you advertise unlimited or high amounts, you will most likely attract higher usage sites. Advertising 2G/mo will turn away sites that are using high amounts already who are looking to change to a higher bw host. This is common sense, but I thought I would mention it.
