    * Would you stop offering a game that made you $50,000 per day?

One developer did stop offering a game that apparently made him $50,000 per day in ad revenue. He wrote "I cannot take this anymore" and "[The game/money] also ruins my simple life. So now I hate it."

    Would you do it?

No. Tbh its really hard to reach what he had achieved. Making a game number one is hard, but well maybe the owner just doesnt like the fame or the fortune lol.

Flappy birds is such a basic game and he did not expect it to become that popular...so i guess he just cant take all that excitement? or at least he's probably the kind of person who wants to enjoy a simple happy life with less money rather than a life of fame and fortune which can ruin lives...

Thanks for the information. I was trying to go download the game this morning after hearing a friend talk about it. Now I see why I could not found the game in the play store. Maybe he could of donated the money if it was to much for him.

No... I would hire someone to handle the day to day task and just site back and let the money rake in.. But to each his own I guess..

If he is making $50,000 a day he probably has enough money at this point.

Yes. Sometimes life is more important than all the money in the world, we have just one life and not millions, like money. But unfortunately all that matter in this world are money. When people will realize that money are not so important, humanity will pass the "primates" stage to the human stage.

As I've heard he still has many game projects at hand, its just that the hype from that one is too much for him (or a bold move to burst downloads on the presumable "last day").

Anyways, I have the pleasure of playing it on a colleagues phone - this way I don't have the time to get addicted, and being his property keeps me from smashing the phone in the wall

No I would hire, but I guess it is not for everyone, making money requires demanding work, and that is the way it goes.

Money is not the most important thing in life. I would also probably hire someone to run it, rather than just quit it.

Publicity stunt to be honest, no way would anyone with brains stop a popular game, making money. That's like starting a small webhost and when it gets to big you close it.

However for all the FlappyBird fans there's this new game which is a copy: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...es.FlappyWings

He like someone else has said, has probably made more than enough, espeically if its 50k a day...just for the publicity and such, good on him!

I do not blame him, often times people who make it big quickly become different people in the end. It would appear that he noticed that was occurring to him and he did not want to do it. I say more power to him.

I still do not buy that there was nothing "legal" related to this. Those pipes bro.. C'mon man.

Regardless, not everyone can handle, wants to handle success, and it was his decision, supposedly, which not everyone gets.

That was exactly my thinking when I saw the screen cap. If that's not Mario pipes, well...

even if they stopped selling the game - would he not still be making that $50,000 a day in ad revenue from the people who have the game.

If this is true, I think he has earned enough to live and good and secured life now. Most people would say that any amount of money you earn is not enough for you in life but some people think otherwise. May be that is the case here. He is satisfied with what he has earned already.

Good question, although are the ad's worth that much then?

I just started hearing about this game maybe a week or two ago....and all I heard were constant complaints....then the news about it shutting down.

When I google'd about the game, most articles were stating it was released for no reason, people don't know what they want, and there was no need for this game.

Basic game.....basic is an extreme complexity for a lot of people nowadays.

    Oh well.

He's just taken it out of the app stores. The ads are still running on the hundreds of thousands of screens where it's still being played, so it's not like there's no $$ coming in.

That's what I thought. He will still be taking in $50,000 with the guys who have the game and continue to play it because its now a "rare" app. Maybe he was content with just $50,000. The game has a limited life-span too as its just a spin on the old infamous i-copter game from the 90's and he probably would have struggled to develop it much further.

First thing I thought when I played this for a short while was "wow, this looks like a Mario game!". I suspect he's had a C&D letter from Nintendo, though if that is the case, then why not redesign?
