Looking for a free pdf converter

    Hello,

I'm looking for a free pdf converter. I should be able to convert Word and Excel files to pdf(and preferably also vice-versa). Please suggest one! Thanks!

It should also allow me to just create a sheet or 2 in Excel instead of the entire Excel Workbook into pdf.

Don't they have the option to export to PDF in both of those programs?

Well they do, but only if you have the PDF converter installed on your computer!

http://www.primopdf.com/ can convert from anything to a PDF, so long as you can print from the software. I've used it to make PDFs out of Word and Excel documents.
If you have to operate your company behind the scenes or under a fake name, maybe it's time to leave the industry and start something fresh.

    PDFCreator should do the job:

    http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/

It installs as a virtual printer, so you can print anything to PDF.

Carp is correct if you have Office 2010. It comes built in with a PDF exporter even if you do not have a converter installed.

I second openoffice. It has free built in PDF exporting that works great from any format. I use it to turn documents into PDF proposals, etc.

+1 for PrimoPDF. It works great for me. You can easily print almost anything as a PDF with it.

Why not use Google docs, you can import the specific document and save it as a pdf

As I understand, OpenOffice is a free substitute of Microsoft Office(Word/Excel/Powerpoint/Others) and has an in-built PDF converter? Is this correct?

Correct and in my opinion a very decent substitute for Microsoft Office. All PDF converters basically add a virtual printer to your list of printers installed so that you can print to file and save it in .pdf format.

Thanks! I already installed it and is working fine. I however do not find any easy way out in OpenOffice Calc to just convert a specific sheet(s) to PDF. Is there a way out? I saw in OOO Forums about some program based coding to achieve that which I do not understand.

You can use any of the following software already suggested such as primopdf or dopdf, all you have to do is to give the print command from within your application and then select the installed software as the printer.

You can follow below given steps to export only selected sheets :-

OpenOffice -->> Edit Menu -->> Sheet -->> Select -->> Select Required Sheets

    Then

File Menu -->> Export As PDF -->> Select "Selection" in Range option -->> Export
