    Problems with dns setup on dns.domain.com

    Guys
    Daily I receive this email from my cpanel don't know what to do?

    IMPORTANT: Do not ignore this email.
    The hostname (dns.domain.com ) resolves to . It should resolve to 12.123.122.123. Please be sure to correct /etc/hosts as well as the 'A' entry in zone file for the domain.

    Some are all of these problems can be caused by
    /etc/resolv.conf being setup incorrectly. Please check this file if you
    believe everything else is correct.

    You may be able to
    automaticly correct this problem by using the ' Add an A entry for your
    hostname ' under ' Dns Functions ' in your Web Host Manager

    When i try to add an a entry it says its already there.
    Please tell me what should i do?

    check your /etc/hosts and make sure that dns.domain.com is pointed to the correct IP. Also make sure when you ping dns.domain.com, it is resolving to the correct IP.

    you will need to login as root for your server via SSH and edit the file /etc/hosts by either using the vi editor or pico editor;

    vi /etc/hosts

    or

    pico /etc/hosts
