    cpu querys

    hello all,
i have been out of the loop for dedi servers for a while due to some other things ive been working on but im getting back into them now and i have just got a cheap dedicated server for the moment but im seeing this in the cpuinfo output which does not seem to make sense to me so im wondering if anyone else knows if this is normal or should be checked out.

Speedstep may be lowering the cpu speed. You can turn off the cpuspeed service, or ask the provider to shut it off in the server bios.

thanks, i have tried fully loading the cpu using a program called cpu-burnin and it still shows the same clock speed.

    also :

    Code:
    service cpuspeed stop
p4-clockmod passive cooling support cannot be truly stopped
i get that message for cpuspeed

Maybe it needs to be stopped in the BIOS. I would just recommend going to a new server, that CPU is really old and outperformed by orders of magnitude these days.

thats fine, i can live with the performance of this one for now, not paying a massive amount for this server so i will cope until i get my service back up and running
