    Wordpress specialist hosts

    Hi

What options are there for shared hosting with cpanel and wordpress (need wordpress specialized hosts only). I know it's ok to host with regular shared hosting but that's not what I want.

    Tl;dr

    cpanel
    wordpress
    shared hosting
    location: anywhere on earth
    budget: $6 - $39
allow reseller: great but not a deal breaker

    Gracias!

Most hosts can do wordpress hosting. Wordpress focused hosting only allows better resources for a wordpress install.

    If you need more :
    -- memory allocations
    -- cpu usage
    -- bandwidth
    -- security
    -- Optimization

specialized for wordpress, u can just consult with a host prior to getting a package. Most hosts already support all these stuff ( memory / cpu usage might be a constraint for a shared account though )

If you have a large blog, then may be for the price range you are willing to pay a VPS can be better.

With own hosting if you also want to resell hosting, you will have to consider:
    Reseller Hosting OR Managed VPS

Alternatively you can refer your website visitors to your host using affiliated link and earn affiliate commission.

wpengine and kahunahost offer wordpress hosting, although i heard dreamhost recently launched something called dreampress so you might want to look into that as well.

You should be sure you host with a company that understands WordPress. It's not just a matter of finding a host, but finding a host that can help you be sure your WordPress is safe and secure. For a single WordPress site, a shared hosting account will be plenty for your needs.

But won't it be interesting to see if GoDaddy ever makes the WordPress.org recommended list? Especially with their new "Managed WordPress Hosting" initiative?

I tend to think WP-Engine is a good option. Perhaps they just have good marketing. You will want hosting that has Varnish and either xCache, APC or eAccelerator.

Unfortunately WordPress can become a very load intensive platform depending on the nature of the plugins you run. PHP caching, static resource caching and CDNs are your friends. If you did not know that already.

Your budget definitely sound reasonable. What kind of traffic are your getting?

Dreampress wordpress optimized hosting, looks like just marketing to match with Godaddy's recently announced "optimized" wordpress platform.

Just about any shared host will do good for you but I understand where your coming from about wordpress specializes hosting you want to ensure you don't run into any problems at all and I don't blame you.

Alternatively you can always go with a very reliable provider like mddhost for example they will dedicate their time and resources to your website needs.

Your budget seems decent and it won't effect you on trying to find the right plan with the right provider. Usually these days people are looking for hosting but their budget is what most of the times holds them back in this case you don't have to worry about this.

Check the shared offers out from time to time there would be a host that is offering special plans for wordpress baised sites.

WpEngine? Okay. It's overhyped and expensive for what little you actually get. But okay.

SiteGround. Eh, good shared host, not really a "WordPress host".

    But Bluehost?! EIG?!

The "reviews" are all fluff crap. No real review is actually there.

And if those hosts are so excellent, then why is the blog it's on using on Linode? ie, a different host not even on the list?

No, it's about the affiliate money. Again, fake list. BS. That site doesn't want to help people at all. The owner wants to use you to help him/her make money. The owner could care less about you finding a truly good host. I bet the person that wrote this has never even used those hosts.

It's just noise and should be ignored.

    Owner of that site here:

No they aren't paid listing and yes I have used each of them. My current host is WP Engine.

I tried to post proof that I still use them but I need 5 posts. If you still don't believe me that it's not a paid list and I haven't used the hosts then I'll start posting and provide the images for you.

    Thanks

Generally, this is very true. This time seems to be an exception. (see owners reply above) It is a fact that WPEngine uses Linode.

    There is a big difference between the two;

    Regular Host that you can install WordPress;

    Customer: I have this issue
Host: We can try to help, but if we fail....WP is 3rd party....find help elsewhere.

    WordPress Host

    Customer: I have this issue
Host: Let's jump in since our staff ARE trained to use and support WP along with server management

    OR

Host: We saw the issue and fixed it

The difference could be between an hour response to resolution to a few days of finding someone to fix the issue.

On the flip side, a regular host is not at fault for not helping. Their staff is hired to manage the hosts servers and offer occasional script help along the way. A staff member is not trained to offer support to all the possible installations that exists; wordpress, joomla, cms's, opencart, magento, carts, galleries, forums, etc etc etc. One click installations average over 200 scripts. No one is trained to support all of them and many hosts will state on the installation page that if you have an issue with a script to hire someone for help.

If someone is starting off with WordPress, then it's not an issue. Most errors tend to be php or database related which most hosts can resolve...most. But for someone with a very active WordPress site...it's equivalent to owing a specialty car. You find a mechanic that specializes in that car, not a WalMart mechanic.

I will agree with KP...all of those are fake or affiliate related.

The pages it leads to are real, but the links on the source site are all affiliate links. The only place you will get a real review about a host is on here, a few other forums, and in some cases social media.

Finding a site that shows off a bunch of hosts with pretty flowers will get you just that, pretty flowers. Find a site that shows how actual customers feel about a host, it's services, and it's management, which is pretty much word of mouth...that's gold.

A couple wordpress specialized companies that haven't been mentioned:

    Pressable (formerly ZippyKid)
    WebSynthesis
    Pagely

I don't think any of them run cPanel though.

    Another strong point.

WP Specialized hosts, or someone that knows how to customize their setup will not use cPanel. cPanel uses at least 500mb-600mb of Ram, before anything else is done with the account...and cPanel uses Apache, another slow resource heavy setup.

I host all my Wp blogs on Hostwinds.com. I also have a $5/month a reseller account with them, but this is another story. Great hosting company.

Valid point; but if your Shared Host is not over-selling and has plenty of redundant RAM and your WordPress install is optimised this is really a minor issue + it all depends on how experienced the owner of the Wordpress site is. Seeing as the OP wants to offer Reseller Hosting in all honesty he will if he wants an easy life; use cPanel or others.

I mean if optimisation and speed is your main need; you need to focus more on using Lite-speed rather than Apache. Possibly for the OP a managed/unmanaged VPS may be his best bet with or without control panels such as cPanel.

If the node has adequate RAM I don't see running cPanel as a problem. Also there are alot of hosts out there who use cPanel with a Varnish/Nginx proxy. The nice thing about cPanel is it makes it a heck of a lot easier to manage your website. Plus when the node is running CloudLinux with LVE it is almost like you are in your own dedicated environment.

Watch out for hosts that claim to be "WordPress specialists". A lot of times larger web hosts will create landing pages that make them appear to be truly WordPress specialists, but they really have no more WordPress expertise than the next guy down. If they're truly WordPress specialists, then their entire branding will be based around it: not just a single landing page.
