Arrow Online.net second ip for secondary nameserver

    Hello

I just buy a new dedicated sever from online.net and i got it with one ip.

Then i just ask for a secondary ip routed on my server just to use it as secondary nameserver entry (ns2.mydomain.com) but they told me that i must pay for business service level 20 Euro and then to buy a failover Ip..

I think it is insane just to get an extra ip for ns2 use to pay 20 euro every month for it....

    What is your opinion?

    Thank you

Weird that you have to have Business Level, but I guess this is probably due to the IPv4 Shortage, that's probably why they only offer them at Business Level.

you can use the same ip for both ns1 and ns2. you don't need 2 ip's.

Our opinion won't change anything. This is their policy, if it doesn't work for you just cancel the service and find another provider that doesn't charge those fees.

One additional IP failover address. You always have the primary public ip. (you can have 2 IP in total without any business+ service pack)
So hostyourdream can order this additional ip

    Regards,
    Arnaud

Probably because the server you bought is their lowest offers and isnt available with more IPs unless you go with premium support level.

    @online_net

    Now it is ok

I just add one ip extra but in total different subnet ...

Is this a problem or it will work just fine?

    Thank you

You'll need to configure the IP on your server.

I personally used this guide when I first had to do this:

I do the same but i am getting this when i run ifup eth0:0 or service network restart:

Le périphérique eth0:0 n'étant pas présent, son initialisation sera retardée.

    But the file exist here:
    /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0:0
