    Setting up Email server

    Hi, I just bought a VPS for hosting my personal email and to learn some.

    I bought a VPS and installed Postfix with Squirrelmail, I am able to send mail but not receive :/
    I have set the mail setting to be "mail.domain.com" and redirected the IP to my new IP (In cPanel), but it still keep sending it to my cPanel account and not my VPS. Why?

    DNS setting are "mail.sae****.net -> TTL: 14400 -> CLASS: IN -> TYPE: CNAME -> Record: 176.31.8*.***"

    Something I have done wrong?

    If you're using cPanel then why there is a need to instally any third party email service?

    I want to learn how to setup and I have some problems with the email there. So I basically want to control my own email server =)

    You could have used your own computer as your mail server ..I use mine as one!!!

    DNS updates are not instant since its cached.

    You can try sending an email from a host which hasn't sent you an email for a while

    Also check mxtoolbox.com or intodns.com to see if your changes are applied successfully

    when did you apply the change?

    Most likely your problem is the dns cache I guess...
