iOS. I'm an Apple lover. Easy to use and for me does everything that I need and more. Also love iCloud. Anything I do on my Mac, iPad, or iPhone automatically shows up on the others. It is helping me tremendously staying organized and such.

hands down iOS
Started out before Android came around (iPhone 3G-S), still not satisfied with the instability and garbage thrown out by Droid devices... I'll keep my lack of battery changing, no flash, built in memory device, thanks... At least I know it'll last and last and last for years!

Android, I'm extremely picky, so I like to customize the UI to get it perfect (in my eyes). I've had android phones for years, but that's not to say I wouldn't get an iPhone though.
I may get an iPhone if I get stationed in Europe, I'm not a fan of Verizon or AT&T (overpriced in my opinion), and I switched to T-Mobile from Sprint about a year ago, so I won't switch back for a while.

iOS, gets out of my way and I'm already in the Apple ecosystem anyways.

I voted for iOS, but my scope for comparison is very limited. In the past 4 years or so the only phones I've owned have been either Blackberrys, then on to the iPhone. So it's pretty hard for me to compare iOS to Android for instance.

I was thinking this too. Most people don't have extensive hands on with all devices and very few have even looked at Windows Mobile. People in theory vote with their wallets so this poll should match up with industry market share analysis. If it doesn't it would be interesting.

Indeed. Windows Phone 7 is actually a very smooth OS.

Interesting. I see your point. The reason I ask:
I just purchased my full QWERTY keyboard flip phone (dumb) in 2011. I'm probably going to upgrade to a smart phone in 2012.
I own nothing Apple. I hate itunes restrictions on what I can play my mp3s on so I buy only from Amazon. I don't hate Apple, I just think they are overpriced. If money weren't an issue, I'd probably own everything they produce, though.
I love Windows 7 desktop and feel secure but I worry about phone malware using Win7 mobile.
Droid looks good but I am falling for that total user experience easiness of the iPhone.
I will mainly talk, text, surf the web a little, and use Google Maps or alternative. I don't want to have to learn a complicated phone !important;

You don't have to use iTunes to manage music on your iPhone, for updating the OS you will though, but music management can be done by other software.
Windows Phone 7 is nothing at all like a PC version of Windows, it's much closer to Windows Compact Edition. You're more likely to get malware on Android than WP7.
Check out the new android phones, with version 4 (ICS), the UI experience is much better, not too far off from the iPhone.

You don't need to use iTunes to update iOS anymore.

Just wait till Win 8... They're actually trying to make it more of a 'Win mobile' OS, and this is going to reaaaaaly upset a lot of people. Played with the beta for about 30 minutes and reformatted immediately.

Unfortunately, ICS will be only made available to select individuals and phones. This is another reason to avoid Android. When iOS releases a new version, you can update immediately. When Google releases a new version, you're stuck waiting until your provider wants to tell you that you're allowed to update
