what hosting to go for?
Hi I am starting a new website that's pretty heavy
on php and mysql, kind of social network thing with
a lot of search options and ajax.
I'll probably need a pretty good server to handle it as I
will want to site to load fast right now I tried ity on
the god daddy economy plan and it loads pretty slow and that's
only me using it, I want it to be able to handle it least
1000 requests a day and I want an option to up the bandwidth
or processing power or whatever I need according to the traffic.
Can someone suggest me which plan to go for?
as for hosting company, hostgator seems pretty promising,
But I am open for suggestion regarding hosting company as well.

You are not going to want to use shared hosting for this type of website, as the amount of resources it will use are bound to get you suspended.
I would agree with HostLeet, you need a dedicated or high-end VPS for this solution.

Maybe you should look at MediaLayer.com. They are top notch. If it is going to be a site as intensive as this, you want something better than HostGator. You should try MediaLayer shared hosting, and if that doesn't work out you could move to their other options.

I would advise against shared hosting and ask you to consider a VPS. I don't think a high end VPS is necessary, at least at first. VPS' are ideal since they allow you to upgrade your bandwidth, RAM and HDD space quickly and easily. Many hosts also offer a seamless transition into a dedicated once you get to that point.
Check out the VPS offerings page, you'll find a good one. Medialayer is a good provider, just expensive compared to equal alternatives.

Well keep in mind that godaddy is pretty slow in general, you are literally currently hosting with one of the worst companies on the net. So just because your site is performing slow on Godaddy shared web hosting, does not mean your website will perform slowly with other companies shared web hosting accounts.
With that being said, do you have a monthly budget you are looking to stay within? I can almost guarantee that 1000 Unique visitors per day will be to much for a shared web hosting account to handle.
PS. Dont buy into the unlimited diskspace/bandwidth hype, its just a gimmickLooking for an awesome VPS Offer? CLICK HERE

You may not require dedicated or VPS hosting at this point of time. However, the feature you need to look for is the unlimited DB support and Bandwidth support to accommodate good traffic to the site. An high end shared windows hosting package may serve the purpose. Look for the reliable and experienced hosting provider in the industry.

It seems like shared hosting would not be for you, look at getting a good dedicated server.
Hey Mikey likes it!

I also agree on choosing a dedicated server or a VPS for your site from a better provider. Check the marketplace section.

All the advice is really good, thanx alot
As for budget, I think up to 200$/month will be OK, but I'd rather
start by paying less and build my way up if possible,
as it will probably take some months for the website to accumalate
some good traffic.
I'd probably go for a VPS from what I've checked as dedicated
servers some too expensive at this point in time,
I think it will be worth it to wait money-wise, and
switch to a dedicated server when traffic grows a bit.

This is a good idea. I wouldn't start with a dedicated server just yet. Start with a VPS and see what performance you get. Make sure you pick a reputable company that is scalable in terms of upgrading your VPS and then ultimately upgrading to a dedicated server if necessary.

You should get a web host that has a great support to their members, an unlimited bandwith and memory and what features on cpanel that might be useful for your website. I'm currently using esbhost.com . Great offers and support from them...

I would look at pay for what you use cloud hosting. That way as your resource usage increases, you will pay more, but the resources will be available to you. If you get a couple hits a day now, it will be affordable, but when you start getting 1000 hits a day you'll be able to scale up.

Ohh so many suggestion, Mate, this is true that your need is not made for shared hosting, it would need 2 imp things 1st good RAM and speed with bandwidth.. thats so simple. even I carry 7 web sites at the same time kind of social net-working.. Now its up to you... but still no company need such a bing account at very start,, so go with only who carry unlimited bandwidth...
